Linn's History:
John Nicholas Gast & his brother Christian lived at Mahantango Creek in Snyder county, Christian bought Samuel Gramley's farm and lived there until 1808 when he moved to Hollidaysburg in Blair county. John came from Penn's valley to Brush valley in 1793. This information came from John's daughter Christena Reynolds. Their parents came from Wurttemberg Germany. Nicholas bought a tract of land from Col Miles in 1794 where he lived until his death in 1810. At his house were elections held. He had 10 children among them are John A, George, Henry & John. His daughters were Barbara who married Mr. Tate, Catherine who married Daniel Conser, Christena who married John Reynolds, Mary married Jacob Wolf, Susan who married Paul Wolf & Elizabeth who married Solomon Crotzer.John married Anna Catharine Kibe Knipe. Anna was born on 15 Nov 1771 in Centre County, PA; died on 11 Oct 1863 in Rebersburg, Centre County, PA; was buried in Saint Peters Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery, Rebersburg, Centre County, PA.
