    Kenneth Max Dodd was born in Allerton, Il. to James and Ella Daughtery Dodd.
    He served in the United States Army in the South Pacific Theater during World War II.


    Kenneth Max Dodd, 90, of Danville, passed away at 8:04 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at North Logan Health Care in Danville. He was born May 3, 1918,
    in Allerton, the son of James and Ella (Daughtery) Dodd. He married Lois Smith on April 14, 1946, in Danville. She survives. Kenneth is also survived by a son, Gary (Mary Ann) Dodd of Danville; two daughters: Brenda Shanks of Danville, Julie Myers (Steve) of Oakwood; seven grandchildren: Jason, Tara, Anthony, David, Joseph, Maria, Jordyn; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Hazel Wire, Mary Taflinger and two brothers: James Dodd and Donald Dodd.
    Kenneth graduated from Sidell High School in 1937. He attended David Rankin Trade School. He served in the United States Army in South Pacific Theater during World War II. Kenneth worked as a mechanic, then was a Snap-on-Tool salesman for 18 years until his retirement in 1977. He enjoyed golf, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
    A celebration of the life of Kenneth Dodd was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Drew Mentzer officiating. Entombment followed at Sunset Memorial Park.
