    Roanoke (PNS) - George E. McGhee, 93, of R.R.1, near Secor, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home, where he had been a patient since December.
    His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Remmert Funeral Home. Pastors John Skomp and Leroy Finto officiating. Burial will be in Secor.
    Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight.
    He was born Nov. 8, 1885, in Linn County, Mo., a son of John H. and Mar E. Fosher McGhee. He married Lillie H. Garrett in Linn County, Mo., in 1908. She died Aug. 11, 1923. He married Edith R. Armstrong in 1930 at Secor. She died in 1934. He married Gladys E. Burdge in 1940. She died in 1972.
    Surviving are a son, Erby, rural Roanoke; two daughters, Vaunice Handell, Indianapolis, Ind., and Genevieve Arnold, Rushville; a brother, Cecil, Brookfield, Mo.; two sisters, Josie Blunt, Brookfield, Mo., and Sarah Acree, Reedley, Calif.; seven grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
    Five brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
    Mr. McGhee lived and farmed in the Secor area 40 years. He was a member of Secor Church of Christ and was an organizer and charter member of the Missouri Farm Bureau.

    Funeral services for John H. McGhee were held at the Church of Christ in Purdin at 2:30, Tuesday afternoon, October 5, 1954, conducted by the Rev. L.E. Ketcherside of Peoria, Illinois. Burial was made in the Purdin cemetery.
    John H. McGhee was born August 4, 1857 at Enterprise, Missouri, son of John and Elizabeth Bowen McGhee. He passed away at the Mennonite Hospital in Bloomington, Illinois, Friday, October 2, 1954, at the age of 97 years, 2 months and 28 days.
    Mr. McGhee was united in marriage to Mary E. Fosher, February 21, 1883. To this union ten children were born.
    He had been making his home with a son, George E. McGhee, of Roanoke, Illinois for the past few years.
    He is survived by the following children: Earl, of Trenton, New Jersey; George E., Roanoke, Illinois; Abe A., of Washington, D.C.; Ralph S., of Kansas City; Cecil C., of Purdin; Mrs. Sarah Acree, of Palmdale, Calif.; Opal McGhee and Mrs. Josie Blunt, of Kansas City; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
    Mrs. McGhee preceded him in death December 28, 1940.
    Mr. McGhee united with the Church of Christ at Shelby fifty-nine years ago.

    Mrs. John H. McGhee passed away at her home, 7 miles northeast of Purdin, Saturday afternoon, December 28, 1940. She has been bedfast since May of last year, following a paralytic stroke. Funeral services were hald at the Church of Christ at Purdin at two o’clock Monday conducted by Rev. L.E. Ketcherside of Peoria, Illinois. Interment was in the Purdin cemetery.
    Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Harrison and Sarah Fosher, was born October 1, 1861, in Linn County, near old Leverton. On February 21, 1883, she was united in marriage with John H. McGhee, and together they established their home on the farm where they lived their entire married life. To them ten children were born; one died in infancy, and a son, LeRoy, died at Lawrence, Kansas in 1925. Those surviving are: Earl, of Trenton, New Jersey; George E., of Secor, Illinois; Abe A., of Washington, D.C.; Ralph S., of Kansas City; Cecil, of the home farm; Mrs. Sarah Acree, Los Angeles; Miss Opal McGhee and Mrs. Josie Blunt of Kansas City.
    She is also survived by her husband who has been her devoted companion for nearly 58 years; one sister, Mrs. Rose McCollum of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Tom Fosher, of Purdin; and 15 grandchildren.
    Mrs. McGhee was all that could be looked for in a wife and mother. She was faithfully devoted to her home and shared the responsibilities of the farm. As a mother, she was successful in rearing an outstanding family, of whom she was truly proud. She united with the Church of Christ at Shelby 45 years ago, and was sincerely faithful to the Church and its cause.
