    Hannibal, Mo., Aug. 15. – Dr. Francis Clay Hopkins, 72, of 1601 Bird, died Saturday afternoon at 2:06 in Shill-Hildreth hospital in Macon.
    Dr. Hopkins had been an osteopath here for 50 years. He was a graduate of the Perry High school, attended Kirksville State Teachers college a year and graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery June 1, 1916, after which he came to Hannibal. Dr. Hopkins was born Oct. 10, 1892, in Perry, Mo., a son of A. Manifee and Annie Phillips Hopkins. He was married to Helen A. Stevens Sept. 16, 1916, in St. Louis.
    Dr. Hopkins was a member of Trinity Episcopal church, Knights Templar and Nemo lodge of A.F.&A.M. He was a member of the Missouri state board of osteopathic registration and examination for 29 years and was secretary-treasurer for 27 years.
    He was a past exalted ruler of Hannibal Elks lodge, an honorary charter member of the Lions club, and a past state president and state secretary-treasurer and district deputy of the Lions. He was also a member of the Mark Twain home board and a Republican county committeeman.
    Surviving are the widow and two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Burgtorf and Mrs. Lawrence Strode of Hannibal; a brother, Harry Hopkins of Perry, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

    Mr. E.H. Hopkins condition continues extremely critical. His nephews, John Moore of Laddonia and Harrison Moore of Ralls, are here. His son-in-law, John Abbay, thinks the end is very enar and that death may occur at any hour.

    Death of Eldridge H. Hopkins
    After an illness of several months Eldridge H. Hopkins died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Abbay, in this city Sunday morning. Mr. Hopkins’ home was in Ralls but he came to Mexico early in the spring on a visit to this daughter, Mrs. John Abbay, and his health became so bad that he never returned. The remains were taken to Perry and interred at Lick Creek church Monday.
    Mr. Hopkins was a native of Bath county, Kentucky, and was born in August, 1832. At the age of 17 he came to Missouri and located in Ralls county. Soon after reaching his majority he was married to Miss Mary S. Menefee, a sister of Mrs. Jas. A. Abbay of this city. He lived for a few years in Audrain but moved back to Ralls, where he spent the reminder of his life. In 1875 his wife died and he married Miss Kate Richardson of Rails who has been dead several years.
    Besides Mrs. Abbay Mr. Hopkins leaves by his first wife four children, A.M., Clay, R.M. and J.R. By his last wife he leaves tow children, Edward and Ernest. All live in Ralls except Mrs. Abbay.
    Mr. Hopkins was a kind-hearted, good man and the family ahs the sincere sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
