    W.N. Cassity
W.N. Cassity, one of the oldest settlers of this community, after a short illness, passed to his eternal rest at the home of his son in Topeka on May 31, 1919, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 26 days.

He was born in Rowan county, Kentucky, on June 5, 1831, and came to Kansas in 1858. He was married to Anna Elizabeth Shuemaker in 1861. To this union were born five children: Two daughters, Alma and Dora, deceased, and W.J. Cassity of San Francisco, Cali., F.N. Cassity of Topeka, Kas., and Peter A. Cassity of Wetmore, Kas. W.N. Cassity enjoyed the blessings of good health thru his long journey of life. He was a lover of music, especially the violin, which he played. He became a member of the M.E. church in Powhattan, Kas., in 1875. He was always willing to extend a helping hand when needed and never complained of his condition, but always said everything was for good for those that loved the right.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. M.M. McGuire at the M.E. church at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, June 2, after which interment was made in the family lot in Wetmore Cemetery. The many beautiful floral tributes of relatives and friends were mute testimonials of the love and esteem in which this venerable citizen and friend was held.
