    Rite Wednesday For Ralph Gillam
    Services for Ralph Gillam, 60, of 1325 Emma ave., will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Evan Lilly’s funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale cemetery.
    Mr. Gillam, who died at Veterans hospital Sunday of a kidney ailment, was an army lieutenant in both world wars. A Des Moines resident for 14 years, he previously lived in Tipton, where he was born.
    He was a member of the Methodist church, American Legion and the Knights of Pythias at Tipton, and the Reserve Officers corps.
    Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nell Gillam; a daughter, Mrs. Eloise Griffin, and two sons, Robert E. and Lynn, all of Des Moines; a brother, Millard, of Tipton; three sisters, Mrs. Rena Trede, Gladys and Harriett Gillam, all of Glendale, Cal., and two grandchildren.

    E.C. Gillam, 84, Tipton Justice Taken by Death
    Tipton – Edson C. Gillam, 84, justice of the peace and a pioneer Tipton business man, died at an Iowa City hospital Wednesday after an illness of about two weeks.
    He was born in New York, Jan. 28, 1860, and came to Tipton about 1890 as an agent for the Chicago and Northwestern railroad. He also farmed for a time before entering business in Tipton. He later served for a period as county treasurer. For the past 25 years he had conducted an insurance agency, served as justice of the peace and as delinquent tax collector. He had been a member of Cedar lodge No.11, A.F.&A.M., for more than 50 years.
    His wife preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons and three daughters, M.W. Gillam, Tipton, Lt. R.L. Gillam of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. Rena Trede, Miss Gladys Gillam and Miss Harriet Gillam of California.
    Arrangement for funeral services are pending.

    Tipton – Mrs. E.C. Gillam of Tipton died unexpectedly from heart failure Wednesday evening. She was born in Michigan Dec. 30, 1857, and moved to this county with her husband and family thirty-eight years ago. They first lived on a farm near Tipton but shortly afterward moved to town where they have since resided. Surviving her are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Rene Trede and Miss Harriet Gillam of Loss Angeles, and Gladys Gillam of Tipton; also two sons, Ralph L. and Millard L., both of Tipton. The Rev. W.E. Van Buren was in charge of the funeral services held this afternoon.
