Hillard, 86, of Homer, who died at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 1978, at Lakeview Medical Center, Danville, were conducted Monday afternoon at Kirby Funeral Home, Homer, with the Rev. Berton Helein officiating. Burial was in Homer GAR Cemetery. Mr. Hlllard was born May 27 1892, near Louisville, Ky., a son of John Hillard. He was married to Ada Yeazel who preceded him in death in 1975. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. | 1302 | Funeral services for longtime Buckhorn Flats resident, Frieda Bernice Donelson are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Davis Funeral Home. Mrs. Donelson died Wednesday, July 6, 1983, at Riverton Memorial Hospital. She was 82 years old. Rev Margaret Kahin will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, directed by the Davis Funeral Home. The family requests memorials in Mrs. Donelson's name be given to the Heart Fund or a charity of the donor's choice. Frieda Bernice Donelson was born October 2, 1900 in Butler County, Nebr. She was the daughter of Grace (Rawles) and Charles M. Davis. She married William M. Donelson on Feb. 27, 1918 in Ainsley(sic), Nebr. The Donelsons moved to Wyoming from Nebraska in 1935 and homesteaded in Buckhorn Flats. Mrs. Donelson was a 50 year member of the Buckhorn Flats Extension Club and Rebekkah Lodge. She worked for the "The Riverton Ranger" as Buckhorn Flats correspondent for several years. She also served as secretary and treasurer for the Midvale Funeral Insurance Club. Mrs. Donelson is survived by son Dick Donelson of Riverton and daughter, Helen Monahan of Sparks, Nev. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, brother, Neal Davis of Dayton, Ore and sister, Shirley Zentner, Dayton, Ore, Esther Devish and Claire Templin of Riverton. | 1303 | Funeral services for Mrs. Florence "Billie" Emma Hampton Sollay, 92, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Brady officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Funeral home visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., today, Friday, May 18, 2012; and noon Saturday until time of services. Mrs. Sollay died at 2:40 am, Thursday, May 17, 2012 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Mrs. Sollay was a native of LaBelle, Florida and a graduate of LaBelle High School class of 1939. She enjoyed her childhood, where she grew up with family friends Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. She is a direct descendent of General Wade Hampton. During her childhood she enjoyed spending time in her mother's silent movie theatres and her father's orange groves. Mrs. Sollay was a resident of Jennings 65 years. She taught Sunday school at the First Baptist Church for over 50 years where she was a member. She was a President of Entre Nous, the Business and Professional Women, and the Jennings Music Club; member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Miss MacDill Field at the end of World War II; and was a professional model in New York. Survivors include one daughter, Alta Sollay Baker and husband John of Lake Arthur; one son, Allister Carey Sollay of Jennings; grandchildren, Victoria Baker Flores of Lafayette, Fonda Laney, Carey Sollay, Virginia Soutiere; great-grandchildren, John Baker Flores; Grace, Elizabeth and John Wilson Laney; and caregiver, Sandra Sonnier. Hyatt, 71 years old, who died Tuesday at his home near Hill Top, Fleming County, were held at the grave in the Owingsville Cemetery at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Hyatt, a native of Bath County, had lived in the county until a few years ago, when he moved to Fleming County, where he had been engaged in farming. Donelson, 80, of Buckhorn Flats, Riverton will be held at the Davis Funeral Home, Saturday, September 3 at 11 a.m. Mr. Donelson died August 30 at the Fremont Manor Nursing Home. He was born October 8. 1896 in Central City, Nebr. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. C. Donelson and Rebecca Stephens Donelson. He was married to his wife, Frieda Davis on February 27, 1918 in Amsley(sic - s/b Ansley), Nebr. They moved to Buckhorn Flats in 1924 from Mesa(sic, s/b Mason) City, Nebr., where the couple homesteaded. The Donelsons had resided there until Mr. Donelson entered the hospital on February 4, 1977. Mr. Donelson was a retired farmer and a weed inspector for the Fremont County Weed Control for 13 years. He was also a past supervisor of the soil conservation district. Mr. Donelson was a member of the Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau and the Riverton Chapter of the International Order of Odd Fellows. (I.O.O.F.) Mr. Donelson is survived by his wife, Frieda, and son, Richard Donelson of Buckhorn Flats, Riverton. His daughter, Armis Higgs preceded her father in death in 1969. He is also survived by his daughter, Helen Monahan of Sparks, Nev, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. | 1307 | Funeral Services Held December 30 In Purdin At The Church of Christ Conducted by Rev. Ketcherside of Purdin. Mrs. John H. McGhee passed away at her home, 7 miles northeast of Purdin, Saturday afternoon, December 28, 1940. She has been bedfast since May of last year, following a paralytic stroke. Funeral services were hald at the Church of Christ at Purdin at two o’clock Monday conducted by Rev. L.E. Ketcherside of Peoria, Illinois. Interment was in the Purdin cemetery. Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Harrison and Sarah Fosher, was born October 1, 1861, in Linn County, near old Leverton. On February 21, 1883, she was united in marriage with John H. McGhee, and together they established their home on the farm where they lived their entire married life. To them ten children were born; one died in infancy, and a son, LeRoy, died at Lawrence, Kansas in 1925. Those surviving are: Earl, of Trenton, New Jersey; George E., of Secor, Illinois; Abe A., of Washington, D.C.; Ralph S., of Kansas City; Cecil, of the home farm; Mrs. Sarah Acree, Los Angeles; Miss Opal McGhee and Mrs. Josie Blunt of Kansas City. She is also survived by her husband who has been her devoted companion for nearly 58 years; one sister, Mrs. Rose McCollum of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Tom Fosher, of Purdin; and 15 grandchildren. Mrs. McGhee was all that could be looked for in a wife and mother. She was faithfully devoted to her home and shared the responsibilities of the farm. As a mother, she was successful in rearing an outstanding family, of whom she was truly proud. | 1308 | Funeral Services Held For Charles S. Bagley Funeral services for Charles S. Bagley, 83, who died Wednesday at his home northeast of Purdin were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Purdin, conducted by the Rev. R.C. Ydaon, of Blocton, Ia. Burial was in the Purdin Cemetery. Charles Stewart Bagley, son of George and Elizabeth Bagley, was born March 21, 1872, at Eversonville. On Oct. 17, 1894, he was married to Anna Hedges, who survives. One son, Rollie preceded his father in death. Surviving besides the wife, Mrs. Anna Bagley, are seven children, Curtis, Purdin; Raymond, Browning, Chester, Kirksville; Mrs. Opal Buckman, Linneus; Alva, Shelbina; Leslie, Edina; and Wayne, Nokomis, Ill.; two brothers, George Bagley, Purdin, and Frank Bagley, Brookfield, 18 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. May Moren, and four half-sisters, Mrs. Martha Powell, Mrs. Kathryn Chapman, Mrs. Eva Dewey and Mrs. Ella Cramer. Mr. Bagley had served as an elder of the Church of Christ for 40 years. With the exception of six years when they moved to Purdin, the Bagleys had spent their entire married life on the same farm where they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in October, 1954. Acting as pallbearers were six grandsons, Bernard Bagley, Billy Buckman, Ronald Bagley, Donald Buckman, Johnny Bagley, Dale Bagley, Larry Bagley and Roger Bagley. | 1309 | Funeral Services Held In Purdin, August 6th Etta Lydia Pulliam Cady, daughter of Thomas and Anna Cassity Pulliam, was born May 25, 1877 in Linn County, Missouri and departed this life, August 4, 1957 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Gooch, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 9 days. She was converted and united with the Church of Christ in early life and was an active member as long as her health permitted. She was from a family of six children. Her father, mother, a sister Maggie, and two brothers, William and Edward, preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to David L. Cady, December 26, 1902. They made their home in Jackson Township for three years then moved to Purdin where she had kept her own home until a few days before her passing. To this union three children were born: Mrs. Mary Evelyn Hill of St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Stella Mae Gooch of Browning, Mo., and one son Thomas David who passed away at the age of sixteen years. She leaves to mourn her passing besides her two daughters, one sister, Mrs. Minnie Bivens of Denver, Colo., and a brother, Charley Pulliam who is seriously ill at this time, and four grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She will be long remembered by those who loved her best for her unassuming loyalty, her pleasing personality and her kind consideration of others. A Good Mother has gone to her reward, God saw the road was getting rough, He said to her, you've done enough, A crown you've won, For a life will lived and a work well don. | 1310 | Funeral Services Held In Purdin, August 9th Charlie Pulliam, youngest son of Anna Cassity Pulliam and Thomas Pulliam, was born September 21, 1879, on a farmnear Purdin, Missouri, into a family of two brothers and four sisters, and departed this life August 7, 1957, at 11:00 p.m., on the farm where he had since he was two years of age. He attended the Brown and Pierce schools and grew to manhood in the same community. On February 20, 1916, he was united in marriage with Nora Gertrude Buswell. To this union was born two children, Mildred Irene and Charles Edward. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, the daughter, Mrs. Chester Smithers of Chillicothe, Mo., the son, Charles E. Pulliam of Purdin, Mo, three grandchildren, Norlene and Charlene Smithers and Charles Duane Pulliam, and a sister, Mrs. Minnie Bivens, of Denver, Colorado, the oldest and only living member of the Thomas Pulliam family. Charlie numbered among his friends the entire community of Purdin and surrounding territory. He especially enjoyed fishing with some of the old timers of the community, having been unable to pursue his farm duties for several years due to a lingering illness. He was seriously ill for two weeks and two days before he passed on to his reward. He enjoyed having his friends drop in any time, and was noted for his musical ability to entertain with his banjo. He always said, "Our latch string is always on the outside," and his many friends and neighbors enjoyed this courtesy. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday afternoon, August 9, 1957, at the Methodist Church in Purdin, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E.L. Huchel. Song service was by Mrs. Rose Johnson and Miss Rose Chambers, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Helen Matkins. | 1311 | Funeral Services Held Thursday for George S. Blackburn Funeral services for George S. Blackburn, who died Tuesday at the McLarney Hospital, were conducted by Rev. William Pollock Thursday from the Bear Creek Church. Burial was in the Grove Hill Cemetery. George Sherman, son of George and May Ellen Blackburn, was born March 29, 1890 near Purdin, where he was reared and educated and spent his entire life. In 1912 he was married to Miss Myrtle Fosher. To them four children were born, all of whom survive. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1919. He is survived by three daughters, Miss Mildred Blackburn, Linneus; Mrs. Margaret Schuller and Mrs. Zona Merokwitch of Kansas City, and one son Uel Blackburn, Peoria, Ill. | 1312 | Funeral services were held at the Apostolic Faith church if Balko on Sunday afternoon for W. A. CASSITY, who died in Alva, Okla. on September 18. Rev. John H. Whipple of Balko conducted the final rites, assisted by Rev. Roy Wooster. Special singing was conducted by the Baptist quartet. William Alonzo CASSITY, son of Peter T. CASSITY and Almeta HILL CASSITY, was born in Milan, Mo., on October 2, 1868, and departed this life on Sept. 18, 1951 at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 14 days. From Missouri he moved into eastern Oklahoma in 1900, then came to Beaver county in 1904 and remained in that county for the remainder of his life. He filed a claim to a quarter section of land 17 miles southwest of Beaver. He was married to Elizabeth M. ANDERSON on January 7, 1894, and to this union was born five children, four boys and one daughter. One son, Earl CASSITY, preceded him in death, also five brothers and three sisters. He is survived by three sons, Charles CASSITY, Raleigh, Kansas, Lon CASSITY, Gardena, Calif., and Al CASSITY, Beaver, Okla.; one daughter, Mrs. Rosa REED, Merced, Calif.; one brother Pete CASSITY, Balko; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Elen CASSITY of Balko; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. | 1313 | Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 8 from the Methodist church, Primghar, for McClellan (Mack) Taylor, who died January 6. Last rites were held at 2:00 p.m. and were conducted by Rev. Paul Clements, pastor. Pallbearers were Henry Schoening, Joe Dorschner, Will Kammerer, Gale Jone, Geo Brinkert and Geo. Irvine. Interment was in Pleasant View cemetery, Hartley. McClellan (Mack) Taylor son of Mary Thacker Taylor and Marshall Taylor, was born Febr. 1, 1868 in Atchison county, Missouri. He passed away on January 6, 1955 at 5 40 p.m. at the age of 86 years, 11 months and six days. He was united in holy wedlock to Nancy Ann Williams on Nov. 23, 1890. They started the venture of married life on a farm near Rockport, Mo. They lived in Missouri until 1900 when they came to Iowa in a covered wagon. They farmed in various Iowa communities but mostly in O'Brien county. In 1933 they retired from the farm and moved to Primghar where they lived at the time of Mr. Taylor's passing. To this union were born 13 children, four of whom preceded their father in death. Children Alice, Henry and Clara died in infancy, daughter Mina, Mrs. Harry Clifton passed away at the age o f 39. Mr. Taylor was always a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all. Those left to mourn his death are his wife, Nancy Ann and nine children. The four sons are Orval of Hartley, Herman of Arnolds Park, Claude of Mound, Minn., and Herschel of Eldorado, Kans. His five surviving daughters, Mrs. Cleta Clinton of Reseda, Calif., Mrs. Esther Powell of Primghar, Leola, Mrs. Albert Stoterau of Hartley, Marie, Mrs. Murvin Hopkins, Sanborn and Gretchen, Mrs Raymond Hochhaus of Edgewood, Ia. Burial is to be in the Purdin cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Hill Funeral Home until the service. Mollie Edyth was the daughter of Armstrong and Josephine Cassity. She was born April 1, 1879, near Purdin. On Aug. 27, 1899 she and R.H. Bowles were united in marriage. To this union three children were born, one dying in infancy. Mrs. Bowles is survived by her husband, R.H. Bowles, of the home; two sons, Robert Bowles, Brookfield and Harry Bowles, Littleton, Colo.; two grandsons, Walter Bowles, Brookfield, and Paul Bowles, Littleton, and two brothers, Victor and Fred Cassity, both of Purdin. | 1317 | Funeral Today For Former Principal Here Peter T. Hedges Dies at 87; Rites In Natchitoches funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Natchitoches for Peter Thompson Hedges of Shreveport, once principal of the old Central High School here. He died early Friday at his home at 1936 Laurel at the age of 87. Mr. Hedges was a native of Illinois but longtime resident of Natchitoches and Shreveport. Educated in Missouri, he began his teaching career after receiving his master's degree in that state, and came to Shreveport at Central High principal in 1908. Later he organized the department of mathematics at Northwestern State College at Natchitoches, where he remained until the 1902's when he retired to enter the real estate business there. He was a member of El Karubah Shrine here and a past master of the Phoenix Lodge 38 of Natchitoches, and life member of the Masonic organization. His pallbearers will be past master of Phoenix Lodge. The Rev. Perry Webb Jr. will officiate at services at a First National Funeral Home chapel, assisted by the Rev. George Pierce Jr. Burial will be in Fern Park Cemetery. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Beulah Lamb Hedges; one son, Forest L. | 1318 | Funeral Tomorrow Hannah Lutetia Allen was born in Wayne County, Iowa, June 7, 1859 and passed away at the home, 511 West Canal Street, January 23, 1928. The funeral services will be held from the Christian Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Charles L. Thomas. Burial in Rose Hill cemetery. The deceased was united in marriage, February 23, 1885, to W. H. Miller, and to this union five children were born, one baby died in infancy. Besides the sorrowing husband left to mourn are: O. F. He was born in September 1931 in Linn County, Missouri, the son of Lee Ellis and Lelia (Cooper) Hedges. Gale is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Hannan. He is also survived by one son, Anthony Hedges of Browning, one daughter, Terri and husband Mark Thomas of Overland Park, Kansas, three grandchildren, Greg Hedges of Columbia, Missouri, Chad and Drew Thomas of Overland Park, Kansas, and several nieces and nephews. Gale was raised in the Linn County area where he received his education and graduated from the Browning High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was engaged in farming most of his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is was a member of the American Legion of Browning. Gale accepted Christ as his savior at the age of 13 years. He was born Sept. 2, 1965 in Wilmington, the son of the late Joseph H. Pierce and Marjorie (Douglas) Pierce. He was a 1983 Hillsboro High School graduate. He went on to earn an associate of applied science in human services degree at Chatfield College. Gary worked as an advocate for adult individuals with disabilities as their job coach, helping them learn, accommodate and perform their work duties. Gary was loyal and kind-hearted and never knew a stranger. He always saw life sunny side up. He loved talking about cars and motorcycles. He was born March 25, 1947 to Mervin Jasper and Rosalyn Hedges in Lander, WY. Gary graduated from Fremont County Vocational High School in 1965 and attended Porterville horseshoeing school in California. After being drafted into the army. Gary left to serve his country in the Vietnam war for two years. Upon returning from the war he married his best friend Linda Sue Moses in Jackson Hole, WY on February 7th, 1970. Gary and Linda had four amazing children, Ryan, Brandy, Logan and Jessica. Gary was an avid outdoorsman and rancher. He worked at the National Elk Refuge in Jackson Hole feeding the elk by horse drawn sleigh. Gary considered himself lucky by being able to work numerous guiding and outfitting jobs, which was his passion. He was awarded guide of the year in 1971. He worked for several ranches over the years and was most at home on the back of a good horse. He loved what he did and was a hard working man who never left a job undone. All who knew him could easily say he was a quiet spoken man, therefore when he did speak, everyone listened to what he had to say. More often than not it was a sarcastic remark that resulted in laughs, but he could also be very insightful and give great advice. He spent his later years being an extraordinary grandpa passing on his wisdom of fishing, hunting and work ethic to his grandkids. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his older sister Kathleen Daniels, and sister-in-law Sandra Hedges. A graduate of Rowan County Kentucky High School, she married Grover C. Fox on June 16, 1949 in southern Indiana, and they farmed in Holton, Ind. Hound and Grover moved to Kentucky where they owned and operated Fox's General Store in Morehead. They moved back to Indiana, living in Greenwood first, before settling in Putnam County in 1973. Mrs. Fox was a member of Big Walnut Baptist Church in Reelsville, and currently was attending Life Builder Community Church in Greencastle. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Thurman; her husband, Grover C. Fox; and her beloved miniature schnauzer, Matilda. Surviving are her daughters, Kathleen Faye Fox of Tempe, Ariz., and Kimberly Dean and husband James of Greencastle, with whom she was living; her beloved aunt, Bessie Sloan Stone of Morehead, Ky.; four grandchildren, Michael Shawn Fox of Tempe, Ariz., Candy Alexander and husband Scott of Greencastle, Keena Butler of Greencastle, and Camden Dean of Greencastle; and five great-grandchildren, Samara Alexander, Everett Alexander, Payton Butler, Triston Butler and Skylar Butler. | 1341 | Geo. W. Cooper Dead At 11 o’clock Saturday morning Jan. 17, Geo. W. Cooper died after a long illness at his home near Shafter in Jackson township. His wife had passed away a little more than a month before. Mr. Cooper was born in Westmoreland county, Pa., February 12, 1842, and so was 71 years, 11 months and 5 days old at the time of his death. His parents came to Missouri when he was about two years old, and both his father and mother died shortly after coming to this state. He was then taken into the home of this mother’s sister, who was Mrs. Luvicey Gooch, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage with Mildred Gooch, only daughter of Roland and Zelila Gooch, on July 12, 1865, following his service in the Confederate armies, and to them were born seven sons and five daughters, all of whom survive their parents, and all were present during his last hours excepting one daughter – the eldest. George W. Cooper was an excellent citizen; indeed few men could so nearly count all their acquaintances as their friends. He was a kind and loving father and husband and was a neighbor who could be relied upon for sympathy and help in time of need. His standing in the community where he had lived so long was evidenced by the great congregation which attended his funeral at Mt. Live Monday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. J.W. He had been in failing health several years, in serious condition the last week and a patient at the hospital two days. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He was born June 22, 1872, at Humphreys, son of William H. and Sarah (Johnson) Doolin. He moved to Chillicothe from Osgood, Mo., and had lived at 720 Vine street the last 16 years. Mr. Doolin was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Crooks Doolin. He married Flo Foster in March 1927, at Chillicothe. She survives him. It was one of the largest funerals ever held in the city and many followed the remains to their last resting place in the Weir cemetery. The deceased was born in Omaha, Neb., Sept. 18, 1860, and was 46 years of age at the time of his death. He came to Weir City about fifteen years ago and has been engaged in the mercantile business. George is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kaye Von Bostock of Gallatin; sons, George Bostock of Gallatin and Joseph Bostock and wife Jessica of Montana; and his brother, Doug Bostock and wife Mae and sister, Bette Uhl and husband Billy, all of Houston. He is also survived by his grandson Bryce, Jackson, Zane and Weston; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Patterson, Kent Doss and the Gallatin Fire Department. | 1350 | George L. McNeil Services for George L. McNeil, for 35 years an instrument designer with Procter & Gamble Co., will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Dunlap Evangelical United Breatheran Church. Burial will be in Laurel cemetery. Mr. McNeil, a World War II veteran, died late Thursday at Hughes Memorial Hospital, Hamilton. He lived at 4911 W. Kemper Rd., Dunlap. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Louise Kirk McNeil; one daughter, Miss Linda McNeil; his mother, Mrs. Daisy McNeil; two brothers, Charles W. and John E. McNeil, and two nephews, Thomas M.
