| 9102 | Sharon Ann Harris, 68, of Maysville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Bourbon Community Hospital in Paris, Kentucky. She was the widow of Donnie Wayne Harris who died in 2019. Mrs. Harris was a retired hairdresser and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was born in Maysville, Kentucky on September 30, 1952 the daughter of the late Joseph H. Eubanks, Jr. and Lillian Hill Eubanks. She is survived by her two sons, Brandon W. Harris and Travis J. Harris (Shawnda) both of Flemingsburg, KY; her brother, Randy Eubanks (Beverly) of Flemingsburg, KY and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Sharon Harris will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Monday, July 26, 2021. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in the Caudill Cemetery, Sharkey, Kentucky. | 9103 | Sharon Gale Campbell, of Crittenden, was born in Versailles, Kentucky on December 20, 1948 and passed away at St. Elizabeth, Edgewood on July 1, 2014 at the age of 65. She was the daughter of the late Douglas Morton Million and Helen Corman of Lancaster, Kentucky. Mrs. Campbell was married to E J Campbell who passed away March 17, 2006. She is survived by sons: Keith Campbell of Crittenden and E. J. Campbell Jr. of Crittenden; daughter: Sonja Lanette Russell of Florence; mother: Helen Corman of Lancaster; brother: Dean Morgan Million (Julie) of Lancaster; sisters: Karen Sue Turner of Nicholasville, Terry Lou Cox of Lancaster and Esther Margaret Coon of Clarksville, TN; close friend: Marty Grissett of Williamstown; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many other friends and relatives. | 9104 | Sharon Louise Stacy, 68, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 in Norwich, NY. Sharon was born on February 28, 1951 in Sidney NY, the second child of the late Rutherford White and Mary Wellman White of South New Berlin. She graduated from South New Berlin Central School in 1969. Over the years, she worked for the Norwich Shoe Company and the Red Barrel in New Berlin. After Norwich Shoe closed, Sharon went to college to get her degree in Biology and Earth Science. She was in the process of earning her teaching degree when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She then moved to Conklin to live with her sister, Cindy White Scott, who predeceased her. The last few years of Sharon’s life were spent living in Norwich. Sharon loved many things in life, especially her cats. She also loved spending time in her flowerbeds. You would always find dirt under her fingernails. No gloves for Sharon, that’s not how you work with plants. If you asked her, she would be able to tell you almost anything you needed or wanted to know about plants. She would spend many hours in in her flower beds, working and watching the birds. She also enjoyed reading. Sharon loved spending time with her two grandchildren and always kept the cookie jar full for their visits. She would spend hours deciding what they were going to make together. Sharon leaves behind two sons, Danny Stacy of Norwich, and Justin Stacy of Binghamton; two grandchildren, Ethan Stacy and Mary Stacy of Beaver Meadow; three sisters, Elizabeth Christian of Norwich, Mary Reynolds of Oxford, and Cathy White of Harpursville; three brothers, John White of New Berlin, Joseph White of South New Berlin, and Paul White of Holmesville; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In keeping with Sharon’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, September 13, at Copes Corners Cemetery with Rev. | 9105 | Shaw Funeral Home of Vici Deloris Essie Hedges (January 18, 1941 - August 19, 2012) Deloris Essie Johnston Hedges passed peacefully from this life, with her family at her side, on August 19, 2012 at the age of 71. Deloris was the youngest daughter of Loyd and Essie (Olds) Johnston. She was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma on January 18, 1941. Deloris was affectionately known as “Buddy” to her sister and brothers. Deloris grew up on the Jeffery Ranch near Vici, Oklahoma where she attended the elementary and high school, graduating with the Class of 1959. She was Salutatorian of her class. Deloris was united in marriage to Orne Thompson on June 9, 1958 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They lovingly added four children to their family; Sandra Ann, Randall Loyd, Joan Renee and Jimmie Dewayne. They made their home for a time in Amarillo, Texas, Woodward, Oklahoma and Buffalo, Oklahoma before returning to Vici. Deloris was a devoted and loving mother. Deloris and Roy Aytes were married on September 27, 1977. Roy worked on the pipeline so the couple lived in many places in the western half of the United States as they followed the pipeline construction. She met many people and they all became friends throughout the years. Deloris was a member of the Vici United Methodist Church and was active in United Methodist Women. She enjoyed sewing for her family and was a longtime member of the Turner Quilting Club. She enjoyed traveling and did so until her health caused her to stay home. In December, 2010 Wendell Hedges and Deloris were married. Wendell’s children, Becky, Jim, David and Frank joined the family. Deloris was preceded in death by husband, Roy Aytes; parents, Loyd and Essie Johnston; son, Jimmie and brothers, Milo, Ernest, Jimmie and Dale. Geneva was a homemaker and a member of the Rowan County Homemakers, the Bluebank First Church of God where she served as song leader and the Kentucky Farm Bureau Association. She loved fishing, her flower gardens and nature. Geneva tried to get everyone see the beauty in nature. She loved her friends and her door was always open to anyone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 591/2 years, Burl Moore who passed away on March 31, 1993 and three brothers, Claude Razor, Gene Razor and Ewell Razor. Survivors include two daughters, Lana Peacock and her husband, James Richard of Las Vegas, Nevada and Joyce Marie Moore Alfrey of Auburndale Florida, four grandchildren, Jameson Burl Allen Peacock, Daryl Alfrey, Jeannie Carroll and Leigh Ann Morris, seven great-grandchildren, Erin Alfrey, Amanda Alfrey, Michael Alfrey, Tess Marie Carroll, Zachary Morris, Mariah Morris and Arabella Morris and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. | 9109 | She was Long a Sufferer Mrs. Charles Dimick, who Died Friday Morning Champaign County Gazette August 2, 1905 page 7 Mrs. Charles Dimick died at her home, 307 East Tremont street at 4:15 a.m. today, after an illness covering a period of nearly five years. Mrs. Dimick was 42 years old. She leaves her husband and four children, Arthur, Gertie, Jennie and Daniel, all of whom reside at home. The family removed here from Fairmount about six moths ago and Mr. Dimich, speaking of the sad affliction today, said that although strangers here, his family had been treated most kindly by the people of the neighborhood. Dimick Dec. 25, 1884, united with the Christian church about twenty-five years ago and has since lived a devoted Christian life. She departed from this life July 28, 1905 at 4:15 at 307 E. Tremont St. Champaign, Ill. aged 41 years, 5 months 19 days. The remains were taken over the Wabash Saturday evening on the 3:15 train to Fairmount where she was taken to the home of Mr. George Hedges and on Sunday morning the funeral was held at Center Point church at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. | 9110 | Sheila Kimball, 69, passed away peacefully on October 27th, 2019, with her daughter by her side. She was born on December 12th, 1949 in Denver, CO to Wilma and Herbert Goins. She was the wife of the Late Gerald Kimball, a Vietnam veteran and a Lance Corporal in the U.S Marine Corps. She is survived by her children Andy Kimball, Robert Kimball and Stacy Kimball. As well and her grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron, Lynea, Alivia, Savanna, Neveah, Younique, Cameron and Kross. Sheila was always so full of life. In her younger years she truly “lived life to the fullest.” As she grew older, she slowed down her lifestyle and she became a woman of simple pleasures. She loved crocheting blankets, scarfs, booties/slippers, hats and so much more for her family. She spent many days watching her favorite TV shows, drawing cartoons and writing stories. She took great pleasure in being able to watch her grandkids grow up and she was proud of what her kids had accomplished. Sheila was funny and a delight to talk to making light of any subject. She was full of stories, jokes, pranks and had a wild imagination. When it came to her friends or family, or anyone who crossed paths with her positively, she would mesmerize people with how well she could always remember everyone’s birthdays, important events and anniversaries. If you made an impact in her life she would never forget your special day. So, we will ALL make sure we never forget her! She will be forever loved and missed, but her spirit will live on. She was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky on September 14, 1929 the daughter of Amos Andy and Ruby Naomi (Frith) Hampton. Jodi was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. On October 25, 1947 in Hamilton she married Richard John Sherlock Jr., and he preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by six children, Rev. R. Marc Sherlock of Tipp City, Ohio, Daniel L. Sherlock of Deer Park, Ohio, Timothy J. (Maria) Sherlock, Thomas M. Sherlock, both of Hamilton, Rosemary (Josef) Ture of Fairfield, and Joseph E. (Tisha) Sherlock of Hamilton; nine grandchildren, Andrea (Sergio) Mejia, Kent (Nicole) Sherlock, Marc Sherlock, Bethany Ture, Christine Ture, Annie Ture, Zachary Sherlock, Alexander Sherlock, and Lewis Mills; four great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Scarlett, Sahara, and Athena; a brother, Larry Hampton of Indiana; and a sister, Connie (Richard) Cunningham of Fairfield Township. | 9112 | SHERLOCK, Mary Jane (Janey) formerly of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018, at the Madison Senior Living in London, Ohio. Janey was born October 8, 1926 to Karl and May (Theobald) Korn. She attended St. Peter’s Elementary School and Notre Dame High School where she graduated in 1944. Janey worked at the Ohio Casualty Insurance Company and later at Pease Company in Hamilton. On September 21st, 1946 in St. Peter’s Church, she married Paul E. Sherlock and they were married for 51 years. They had one daughter, Paula. After Paul’s death in 1998, Janey volunteered at Mercy Hospital and Schroder Manor. She moved to London, Ohio in 2010 to be near to her daughter Paula, son-in-law Dan, and their family. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Hamilton until her move to London, and then became a member of St. Patrick Church. Janey leaves behind her beloved daughter Paula and son-in-law Dan Hann; three grandchildren, David (Beth) Hann of Beavercreek Ohio, Michael (Nancy) Hann of Grove City Ohio, and Amy Hann-Morrow of London Ohio; six great- grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob and Abigail Hann of Beavercreek, Luke and Lauren Hann of Grove City, and Hannah Morrow of London. | 9113 | Sherman T. Gustin Lander – Services for Wyoming pioneer Sherman T. Gustin, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church. The Rev. David Donkle will officiate. Gustin died Thursday at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 4, 1898 at the old gold mining town of Lewiston, Wyo. near South pass to pioneer parents Edward and Phoebe (Abra) Gustin. On April 2, 1922, he married the former Ella (Babe) Tracy at Lander. Gustin had lived all his life in Fremont County. He ranched for many years on deeded homestead land on the Wind River Indian Reservation, retiring from ranched in 1965. Since that time he has been a part owner of the Hiway Liquor Store just outside of Lander city limits. He served 12 years on the Mill Creek School Board and worked for consolidation of county and reservation schools. He and his children started the first 4-H Club in Fremont County and he was instrumental in organizing the Mill Creek Grange and Farm Union. Gustin was appointed by President John F. Kennedy to the Soil Conservation Service and continued to serve in that capacity under President Lyndon Johnson. He had made many trips to Washington while serving soil conservation. He was a member of the Cattlemen’s Assn. and the Lander Elks Club. Besides his wife of Lander, he is survived by four daughters, Shirley Fraser, Reno, Nev.; Mrs. Ada McDonell, Ft. Washakie; Rosalyn Hedges and Petty Gustin, both of Lander; one son Orville (Bud) Gustin, Cody; two brothers, Vernon and Max Gustin, both of Lander, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with the Hudson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials to the Lander Branch of Fremont County Museum will be appreciated by the family. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta. Shirley was born November 28, 1937 in Enville, OK to Roy and Inez (Kerr) Keel. She grew up and graduated school in Marietta. Shirley married the love of her life Jerry Lee White on January 2, 1959 in Marietta. The two spent nearly 42 years together before he passed away on May 21, 2001. Shirley spent most of her life in Marietta except for the time she traveled during Jerry's 20-year military career. She dedicated her life to caring for her husband and children. Shirley enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Doc Keel and Max Keel. | 9118 | Shot and Killed John M. Hedges, a brother of Walter Hedges, was shot and killed in Denver a week ago Monday, by Frank Butts. Butts, who shot Hedges was drunk. The Denver News says of Hedges: “John M. Hedges, a carpenter, who was shot and killed by Frank Butts, came to Denver from Denison, Kansas, last Aug. The delight of the wife and four children as she read the many quaint sentences of a special delivery letter received yesterday morning from the father were soon to turn to sorrowing tears as only a little later that same mother read a telegram stating the father was shot and killed. “I cannot account for the strange tragedy,” said Mrs. Hedges. “The only thing that might cause it was the fact that Butts owned my husband money, and my husband was going to leave him. “My husband came to this state for his health, his brother and four sisters having died of consumption. He feared the same fate.” J.M. Hedges was 37 years of age. He leaves a wife and four young children. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. J.S. Gill, of Topeka and four brothers, Marlon, Walter, Edgar and A.V. Hedges of Kansas. His father died only six weeks ago. | 9119 | Sidney Hedges Gabel Sidney Hedges Gabel, 74, 2317 Butternut Lane, died Saturday, April 27, at the Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka. She was born Nov. 23, 1921, at Chillicothe, Mo. She grew up in Kansas City, Mo., where she attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Southwest High School. She had also attended the University of Missouri and later the Conservatory of Music at Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Gael was a veteran of World War II, serving in the WACS. She served as a payroll clerk for almost two years at Camp Hood, Texas, and sang with the Special Services Dance Band for the Special Services Unit. The married Rufus R. Gabel in 1957 in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death in January. Mrs. Bagel spent most of her life in the Kansas City area. She worked as a new business clerk for the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company for many years. She retired in 1990. She had been a resident of Manhattan since October 1995. She was a former member of the Santa Fe Hill Baptist Church, Kansas City, where she had served as a pianist, substitute organist, Sunday school director, nursery coordinator, women’s missionary union director and a member of various committees. Yeazel, 63, retired Homer farmer and trucker, died Saturday afternoon in Illinois Research hospital, Chicago, where he had been a patient for two weeks. He underwent a major operation a week before his death and appeared to be recovering. Mrs. Yeazel and son, Glen, had visited with him Wednesday and Mrs. Yeazel planned to return Sunday. | 9121 | SILVER STAR CITATION: The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Corporal Hubert David Mark (MCSN: 655454), United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving as a Radio Operator and Jeep Driver in Headquarters and Service Company, First Marines, First Marine Division (Reinforced), in action against enemy aggressor forces in Korea on 29 November 1950. Assigned the mission of driving to an area where a large motor convoy was being attacked by a numerically superior hostile force and to radio information on the situation back to Regimental Headquarters, Corporal Mark carried out his task with great speed and efficiency. Ambushed by an enemy patrol and wounded while returning to headquarters, he took cover beside his jeep and delivered pistol fire on the enemy until his ammunition was exhausted. Despite the hostile fire, he obtained a rifle from the jeep and placed accurate and effective fire on the enemy, aiding the other members of the jeep in seeking covered positions. Although mortally wounded by hostile machine gun fire, he continued to bring fire to bear upon the enemy until he lost consciousness. By his courageous actions, he served to inspire all who observed him and contributed materially to the subsequent repulse of the hostile attack. His outstanding courage, initiative and aggressive fighting spirit reflect the highest credit upon Corporal Mark and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. | 9129 | Skipper Royster Hedges was born on May 22, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, to Herbert Arlington Hedges, Sr. and Ellen Jacqueline "Jacky" (Royster) Hedges. Skipper attended Pembroke Country Day School in Kansas City, MO, as well as Culver Military Academy in Culver, In. He graduated in May 1957 from Pembroke and according to his senior yearbook he was a member of the Dramatics Club, Science Club, and the "Raider" yearbook staff. After high school, Skipper attended Drury College in Springfield, MO; the Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City, MO; and the University of Missouri Kansas City, but he did not complete a degree. For a short period of time Skipper sold insurance for the Equitable Life Insurance Company of Iowa. In 1962, Skipper left the insurance industry to pursue a career in law enforcement when he was hired as a Deputy by the Jackson County Sherriff's Patrol (JCSP). On May 2, 1963, Skipper married Sharon Elaine Miller at the Christian Union Church in Richmond, MO. The couple had one daughter, named Kimberly Hedges-Ensminger, and divorced shortly after her birth. On February 8, 1964, Skipper married Barbara Ann DeCavele in Kansas City, MO One daughter was born to this union named Sabrina Monee "Bri" Hedges-Brown. In 1965, Skipper left the JCSP after he was elected as the City Marshall of Lake Lotawana, MO in a three-way race against Jean Swisher and Gene Silvey. One year later he was appointed to the Metropolitan Major Case Squad, which was formed to investigate major, multi-jurisdictional crimes in the Kansas City area. Skipper was reelected as City Marshall in 1969. During his time with the Lake Lotawana Police Dept., Skipper gained recognition for revising the city's road traffic code, updating the department's policies and procedures, assisting the Blue Springs Police Dept. in the restructuring of their record system, and establishing a police department for Weatherby Lake, MO. On December 2, 1970, Skipper was elected President of the Metropolitan Chiefs and Sheriffs Association. In 1972, Skipper ran an unsuccessful campaign to become the Democratic nominee for Sherriff of the Jackson County Sherriff's Dept. against William Carnes. After this primary loss, Skipper also lost his position as Lake Lotawna's City Marshall in the general election to Homer E. Frisby by just 60 votes. Following these electoral disappointments, Skipper worked for the Blue Springs Police Dept., where he wrote a new standard operational procedure manual, and later as an Investigator for the Missouri Social Services Division. In 1975, Skipper divorced Barbara and moved from Lake Lotawana to Blue Springs, MO. In 1977, Skipper made another unsuccessful bid to become the Democratic nominee for Jackson County Sherriff. On May 31, 1978, Skipper married Tanya Kay "Tamie" (Yarrington) Accurso. Skipper and Tamie had two daughters: Britton Royster Hedges and Hilary Skipper Hedges. During the 1980s, Skipper worked in various capacities for the Camden County Sheriff's Dept., St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, Osage Beach Police Dept., and the Windsor Police Dept., while also operating a consulting business called Sab-Brit LLC. On July 14, 1990, Skipper was appointed as Interim Chief of Police of the Grain Valley Police Dept. (GVPD) by a unanimous vote of the city's Board of Alderman. In addition to his duties as Chief, Skipper was tasked with overseeing the search for a fulltime replacement for former Chief Earl Brackman, developing a new budget, addressing citizen's complaints with the police department, and writing a new procedure manual. On September 15, 1990, the Board voted to make Skipper the permanent, full-time Chief of Police. Over the next seven years, Skipper was credited with upgrading the department's equipment, instituting a zero-tolerance policy for drug convictions, developing a neighborhood watch program, initiating the first D.A.R.E. program in the city, and generally making the GVPD a more professional organization. On December 13, 1997, he left the department to pursue other opportunities. Skipper spent his retirement pursuing private business ventures and passed away at the Lake of the Ozarks on June 21, 2014. * Skipper's birth name was Edgeworth Thomas "Edge" Brady, but he legally changed it to Skipper Royster Hedges as a teenager. Hagerstown, Md., May 28 (AP) – While funeral services were held for her husband, Austin C. Godar, 44, whom she admitted shooting, Mrs. Annabelle Godar, 38, church worker and school secretary, remained in a jail detention room, prohibited from seeing the body. Mrs. Godar asked to see the body at the largely attended rites for the laundry manager yesterday, but authorities denied her request, presumably because she was in a nervous condition and under a physician’s care. Meanwhile, a coroner’s jury viewed the body and adjourned. It will reconvene, probably Friday, for the inquest. A murder warrant has been prepared for service on Mrs. Godar, formerly of Roanoke, Va. Her husband’s body was sent last night to Canton, Ohio, his former home, for further services and burial. Mrs. Godar said in a statement given Clarence Baker, county investigator, that she shot her husband Saturday night after he came home intoxicated and threatened to “break every bone” in her body. | 9133 | Snook Charles S. Snook, prominent in financial circles, and a well-known banker, and resident of the county, died Saturday morning about 5 o’clock at his home at Lewistown. Acute indigestion was the cause. Mr. Snook had been in his usual health and was in Frederick Friday. During the evening he was stricken with the fatal attack which his heart was not strong enough to resist. A physician was with him throughout the night. His death came as a great surprise and shock to his friends and to the community. Although a resident of the county Mr. Snook was almost a daily visitor to Frederick. Being vice-president of the Central Trust Company of Maryland he spent much of his time at the bank. He was the son of Daniel J. and Mary Ann Snook, and was born on the Snook homestead, December 4, 1857. He received his education in a private school and in Western Maryland College. On returning home he devoted much of his time to farming and stock raising. He was a clerk in the Maryland Senate during the session of 1898. Later he was connected with the Internal Revenue Service for four years. He was one of the enumerators in the census of 1900. During the war with Spain he was offered a commission in the army. Mr. Snook was a lifelong Republican and was an unsuccessful candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates on the Republican ticket a few years ago. He was interested in banking, being vice-president of the Central Trust Company since January 20, 1915. He was also a director of the Woodsboro Savings Bank. On December 24, 1895, Mr. Snook married Miss Alva B. Cramer, daughter of the late Andrew Cramer of Lewistown, who survives. One brother D.F. Snook, Lewistown, also survives. There are no children.
