- Eunice Cassity
Mrs. Eunice Cassity, 932 Washington, died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday at Hedrick Medical Center. She was 72 and had resided in Chillicothe since 1952. Mrs. Cassity was a real estate broker/insurance broker and was past president of the area real estate board.
Born Nov 10, 1912, in Purdin, she was a daughter of Charles E and Clara Fawcett Gooch. She was reared there, graduated from the Purdin High School and received a teaching certificate from Kirksville State Teachers College. She taught school in the Purdin community for several years and in 1933 was married to Leland Cassity in Kansas City. The family moved to Chillicothe in 1952 and Mrs. Cassity was manager of National Bellas Hess Store.
She was a member of the Chillicothe First Christian Church, of which she was a deaconess, was past president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, was a member of DAR and was chairman of the Livingston County Red Cross drive this year. She had also been owner and operator of the Starlite Motel, Chillicothe.
Surviving are two sons, John L. Cassity, Kansas City, and Charles E. Cassity. Los Angeles, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Officiating will be the Rev. Walter Bingham, assisted by the Rev. Joe Christopherson. The body will be in state after 12 noon Thursday. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Purdin cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association.
