    • Mary L. (Kissick) Bell, 86, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday morning in Glen Oaks Health Campus following a long illness.

      She was born November 6, 1922 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Stanley and Yantis (Ramey) Kissick.

      Mary was a dedicated, loving wife and mother. She spent her entire life helping her family and friends. Before her illness she attended the Bible Holiness Church. In previous years she was a member of the Wesleyan Church in New Castle where she was known to the teenagers as "Grandma Giggles."

      Mary and the late Walter H. Bell were married November 9, 1940. She lost Walter to cancer in 1989.

      She is survived by three sons, Walter (wife: Carole) Bell Jr. of Anderson, Rev. Ronald (wife: Tommie) Bell of Anderson, Rev. Michael (wife: Teresa) Bell of Evansville; two daughters, Mary (husband: Ray) Price of Greensboro and Carolyn (husband: Earl) Thrasher of Brunswick, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Hacker of New Castle; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Walter H. Bell; two brothers, Earl and Eugene Kissick; three sisters, Irene Kissick, Pauline "Peachie" Sparks and Marie Bise.

      Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with the Revs. David Gilbert, John Thompson, and Ronald Bell officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.

      Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

      Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association or the Bible Holiness Church with envelopes available at the funeral home. You may send the family a personal condolence at www.sprolesfamilycares.com.

      The family wishes to extend gratitude to the caregivers, friends, and medical staff of Henry County Hospital and Glen Oaks Health Campus. We appreciate those who labored so faithfully to care for mom. We extend special thanks to Rev. and Mrs. David Gilbert and Daisy Bittinger whose labor of love touched our hearts.
