  • Notes
    • Elizabeth J. Fosher, widow of the late Jacob L. Fosher, whose death occurred at Kansas City, where she had gone for a surgical operation, January 6th, a brief notice of which appeared in last week’s Gazette, was born in Davis County, Indiana, October 13, 1858, and came with her father’s family to Linn county in 1878 and had made her home in Grantsville township continuously since.
She was married to Jacob L. Fosher, a member of the well known Linn county Fosher family, September 1883, who, at the time of his death April 22, 1900, owned and operated the farm, once owned by his father, residing on the Fosher homestead, a landmark on the Brookfield and Grantsville road.
Mrs. Fosher was a most capable woman, and after the death of her husband, managed the farm successfully.
Her surviving relatives are four children, Mrs. Leona D. Johnson, Mrs. Gertrude Blackburn and Katharine and William Ray Fosher; her mother, Mrs. M.E. Davis; three sisters, Mrs. W.M. Bumgarner, Mrs. C.S. Hale and Miss Glen Davis who reside in Purdin, and one brother, W.A. Davis, of Grantsville township.
She had many warm friends in the community in which she had lived so long, by whom she was loved and respected for her sweet christian character.
The funeral services were held at the Grantsville church, Saturday, January 9th, the services conducted by Elder Edwards, of Chillicothe, and the body consigned to the tomb in Grantsville cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
Pallbearers were J.W. Blackburn, A.N. Russell, F.O. Blunt, C.B. McCollum, Wm. Brown and J.J. Burns.
