    • Mrs. Belle Alexander
Ann Isabel Northcott, daughter of B.F. and Elizabeth Northcott born June 25, 1848, in Menard County, Ill., and died Monday, January 6, 1936 after an illness of only 24 hours, at her home in Browning. She was educated in the public schools then in Quincy College. She came with her parents to Missouri and was married march 1, 1866 to George G. Alexander. To this union were born nine children, five of whom have passed to the beyond: Lydia, David, Mattie Trowbridge, Fred and Herman Alexander. The husband also precedeed her in death. Those of the family left to mourn her departure are Ben W. Alexander, Purdin, Mo., Mrs. Lizzie Nickell, Sumner, Mo., Henry Alexander, Alva, Okla.; Mrs. Irene Garrett, Browning, and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Ormiston, Linneus.
The funeral was Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from the Southern Methodist church. The grandson acted as pall bearers. Burial was in the Jenkins Cemetery beside her late husband.
The deceased joined the Methodist church early in life, but transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church. She was a woman of strong mentality, loyal to all fine ideals of Christian womanhood. She was a loyal wife, a devoted mother and true friend. She retained her mental faculties until she died.
There are left eighteen grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The pallbearers were grandsons, Wayne and Harvey Alexander, of Linneus, Kenneth and Carl Nickell of Sumner, Earl Trowbridge of Carrollton, George Alexander of Kirksville.
      The granddaughters carried the flowers.
The music was furnished by a quartette, Ray Calhoun, Mrs. Lorene Whaley, Miss Loraine Glaze and James Williams, with Mrs. Glaze at the piano. Their voices blended well and their selections suitable and beautiful. They sang Mrs. Alexander's favorite sons, among them "It is Well With My Soul."
