- Richard L. Cassity
Richard L. Cassity, 53, died at 12:42 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hannibal. He was a resident of Hannibal and brother of Betty Prewitt, Chillicothe.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, of the home; his mother, Helen Cassity, Brookfield; two sons, Shawn, of the home, and Roger, Kansas City; two daughters, Linda Foster, Olathe, Kan., and Barbara Morris, Brookfield; three step-sons, Darrel Clark, Ocean Side, Calif.; Blake Clark, Overland Park, Kan., and Curtis Clark, Kansas City; four step-daughters, Glenda Hoy and Rhoda Storey, both of Kansas City; Velda St. Croix and Vonda Breham, both of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy hackney, Raytown, and Betty Prewitt, Chillicothe; two grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.
Mr. Cassity was born August 25, 1930, in New Boston, son of Nolan and Helen Peavler Cassity. He was first married to Carolyn Prewitt December 25, 1949, and later married Dorothy Clark, Jan. 17, 1967. Mr. Cassity was a claims representative for Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Hannibal, and Brookfield Lodge 86, AF&AM.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Hannibal with the Rev. Randy Mahurin officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Park Lawn Memorial Gardens in Brookfield. The Rev. Kenneth Kelley will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to his children’s education fund.
