- James Shields Of Bluford Dies At Age 73 Years
James Reamer Shields, 73, of Bluford, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He was a farmer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Bluford Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ross Partridge officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery. Oral Lodge 759 of Wayne City will conduct Masonic rites.
The body will lie in state at the Bluford Funeral Home where friends may call aft 4:00 p.m. today.
Mr. Shields was born February 7, 1890, in Webber Township, the son of Charles A. and Savannah (Bond) Shields.
On January 18, 1910, in Jefferson county, he was married to Esther Martin, who survives.
Other survivors include one son, Chester Shields of Bluford; two daughters, Mrs. Lavin Keele of Dix and Mrs. Vera Simmons of Downers Grove, Ill; two brothers, Nelson Shields of Salem and Fred Shields of Carmi; three sisters, Mrs. Earl (Rose) Johnson of Bloomington, Ill., Mrs. Roy (Lillie) Hunt and Mrs. Roy (Dollie) Tate, both of Bluford; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother, and one sister.
