    Word was received here Saturday morning from Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Davenport that they had just been married in Denver.
    Miss Florence Maddox, as she was until she became Mrs. Davenport, is the daughter of R.E. Maddox of Gove City, and is one of Gove county's most popular young ladies. She was for a time assistant postmaster at Gove and was a leader of the younger social set at the county capital.
    The groom is the son of Wayne J. Davenport of Campus and is an honorable and upright young man whose friends are limited only by the number of his acquaintances.
    The Record joins their friends all over the county in heartiest congratulations.

    Sale of the Lair Sanatorium at 515 Norumbega drive was disclosed today, the institution having been sold by Durward P. and Ada C. Lair to Clyde D. and Florence M. Duffus. Escrow in the deal will close Jan.31 at the local branch of the Security-First National bank.

    Wesley G. Maddow, 76, of 12472 Reche Canyon Road, Colton, died Sunday in a Loma Linda hospital. He was born in Kansas, had lived in Colton 12 years and was a 56-year resident of California.
    Maddox was a former member of the San Diego Elks Lodge.
    Survivors include his widow, Mildred of Colton; a son, Robert James of Montclair; a daughter, Velda Louise Echeguren of Alameda; a sister Mrs. Florence Duffus of Seal Beach; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Emmerson-Bartlett Loma Linda Chapel. Private entombment to follow in Montecito Mausoleum. The family requests remembrances be made in the form of donations to the Heart Fund.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Sergeant First Class John Maddox (ASN: 2273686), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company F, 316th Engineers, 91st Division, A.E.F., at Audenarde, Belgium, 1 November 1918. Sergeant Maddox volunteered to accompany an officer and three other soldiers on a reconnaissance patrol of the city of Audenarde. Entering under heavy shell fire, the party reconnoitered the city for seven hours, while it was still being patrolled by the enemy, and advanced two kilometers in front of our outposts and beyond those of the enemy.

    Funeral services for John W. Maddox, 63, of Ojai, will be conducted tomorrow at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the Sawtelle Veterans Administration facility, West Los Angeles. MR. Maddox, a life member of the Army & Navy Legion of Valor and a veteran of both World wars, died Friday in the Sawtelle Veterans Administration Hospital after a long illness. He won the Distinguished Service Cross in action with the 91st Division near Audenarde, Belgium, on Nov.1, 1918. He leaves his widow Gladys and two daughters, Mrs. John G. Kincade of Berkeley and Mrs. James Brady of Santa Barbara. Burial will be in the VA Cemetery.
