    Died at Asylum
    Mrs. Thomas Hedges, of Rectorville neighborhood, who has been in the state asylum for the insane at Lexington, for only a few months, died at that institution Sunday after a short illness. The body was brought here for burial. Besides her husband she is survived by several children, on of whom is Mr. Robert Hedges, former local postal employe.
    Funeral will be from Bethany church at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning and burial will be made at the East Fork cemetery.

    A lunacy inquest was held before Judge Purnell and a jury Saturday on Mrs. Thomas Hedges, of the Rectorville neighborhood, who has been suffering from a mental derangement for several weeks.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jim Watson, Alva; Mrs. Wade Hampton, LaBelle; a son, Thomas Hedges, Charlestown, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Georgetta Truesdell, Winchester, O.     She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Lucille Wimberly of Madison, Fl., Mrs. Billie Sollay, of Jennings, La., Mrs. Marie Peers of Clewiston, Fl., and Mrs. Mabel Hammond of LaBelle; one sister, Mrs. Anna Laura Watson of LaBelle, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Fort Myers Cemetery, with the Rev. John Willis, Jr., of the United Methodist Church of LaBelle, officiating.
    Pallbearers will be Paul Waters, Gerald Watson, Paul Rennolds, Charles Mattice, Walter Howard, Oliver Murray, Bill Rider, Sr., and Jimmy Pendry.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Amundrud, Wade Hammond and Al Sollay.

Hedges. Barbara had a great zest for life and people. She dedicated her entire life to Jesus Christ and was a willing friend to anyone in need. She was a dedicated member of North Park Baptist Church in Orlando. Barbara kept herself busy with a career in merchandising at Walt Disney World, being “Top Chef” at Montverde Academy, volunteering with the Red Cross, teaching Sunday School, singing in the church choir, and membership in the Eastern star. She is survived by her children: James, Michael (Loretta), Kenneth (Diane), and Freya (Harry); grandchildren Amanda, Jennifer, Christine, Eric, and Robert; and 9 great grandchildren. She will also be fondly remembered by the wonderful children she served as nanny: Amanda, Andrew, Pete, David, Matthew, Lauren, and Jack. She was preceded in death by her son, Albert, and husband James.
    A visitation will be held at the Baldwin-Fairchild Ivanhoe Chapel on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 7 to9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at North Park Baptist Church, 2047 Prospect Avenue, Orlando, FL 32814 on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. and First Baptist Church of LaBelle, 330 N. Main Street, LaBelle, FL 33935 at a later date.

    Thomas Edgar Hedges, age 66, of LaBelle, passed away July 22, 2002, at Ft. Myers. Eddie was born June 23 1936 at LaBelle to the late Robert Valentine Hedges and Vera Bethany ‘Haskew’ Hedges. He was a lifelong resident of LaBelle. He was retired from Krehling Industries at the Moore Haven Plant.
    Survivors include his wife Edie ‘nee-Crysel’ of LaBelle, sons – Paul Robert Hedges, Bonita Springs, Dean Andrews, Atlanta, Mitch Andrews, Boone, N.C., daughters – Carol Snow (Danny), Teresa Howard (Timmy), Lynn Cook (Butch), Boone, N.C., Sisters – Virginia Roberts (Melvin), Polk City, Kathy Lipford (Robert), LaBelle, Roberta Dana and Barbara Anderson, both of Polk City. Fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She is a direct descendent of General Wade Hampton. During her childhood she enjoyed spending time in her mother's silent movie theatres and her father's orange groves. Mrs. Sollay was a resident of Jennings 65 years. She taught Sunday school at the First Baptist Church for over 50 years where she was a member. She was a President of Entre Nous, the Business and Professional Women, and the Jennings Music Club; member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Miss MacDill Field at the end of World War II; and was a professional model in New York.

    Survivors include one daughter, Alta Sollay Baker and husband John of Lake Arthur; one son, Allister Carey Sollay of Jennings; grandchildren, Victoria Baker Flores of Lafayette, Fonda Laney, Carey Sollay, Virginia Soutiere; great-grandchildren, John Baker Flores; Grace, Elizabeth and John Wilson Laney; and caregiver, Sandra Sonnier.

    Mrs. Sollay is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Wade and Olive Lee Hedges Hampton; her husband, Carey Beecher Sollay; three sisters, Marie Peers, Mable Hammond, Lucille Wimberly; and one brother, Tommy Hampton.
