    • Bea Hoffmann Morgan

Bea Hoffmann Morgan, daughter of Louis and Luella La Plant Hoffmann was born in 1924 in Watford City, North Dakota and passed away June 23, 2015 at the age of 91 in Torrance, California. Her childhood years were spent on a farm 8 miles from Watford City, and it was in the country schools that she received her early education. At the age of 12, she lived with her Uncle Paul and Aunt Lettie La Plant in Greybull, Wyoming, where she graduated from high school in 1942. Shortly afterwards, she accepted a position in the Civil Service as an executive secretary for the Navy Department at Mare Island, California. She married John Donald Morgan, who was temporarily stationed at Mare Island on September 18, 1943. John was from Royal, Iowa and had enlisted in the Navy shortly after Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japan on December 7, 1941. In March, 1946, they moved to a farm south of Royal, Iowa where they lived and raised their four children. In March of 1957, they moved to Redondo Beach, California where they lived for 24 years. Bea was employed by the NASA-TRW Space Program in Redondo Beach for 20 years, taking early retirement to be with her husband who was in failing health. They built a new home on Lake Minnewashta in northwest Iowa in April 1980, fulfilling their dreams of early retirement. John died in California on February 4, 1987 from heart complications. Bea was a Christian dedicating and committing her life to our Lord Jesus Christ in 1962.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brothers Raymond, Victor, Roy and Ray; and sisters Lou Fox, Viola Grange and Evie Quinnell. She is survived by brothers Leonard (Lillian) Hoffmann and Donald Hoffmann; her children, Roseanne (Ed) Rodgers, Donna (Tino) Trujillo, Paul Morgan and Richard (Diane) Morgan; grandchildren Scott Folsom, Kimberly and Justin Morgan; one great grandchild, Alanna Folsom; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
