89, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away August 14, 2009. Ruth was born in Valparasio, NE on January 22, 1920 to the late Rudolph and Marie Sklenar. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne E. Nelson and her brother, Rudolph Sklenar. Ruth had a brief career as a dental assistant in the town of Wahoo, NE, but spent most of her life being a homemaker. Ruth's greatest joys came from being a loving wife and mother to her children, providing a warm and nurturing home. She loved cooking, entertaining and gardening. Ruth moved frequently following her husband's career, living in Nebraska, St. Louis, MO, Prairie Village, KS, Bridgewater, NJ and Lenexa, KS, which felt most like home to her. Ruth moved to Scottsdale, AZ three years ago to be closer to family. She is survived by her sister, Irma Sklenar, of Lenexa; daughter, Jan Goetze (Bruce), of Scottsdale, and son, Dr. Ken Nelson (Helen) of Wichita. She is also survived by her much loved grandchildren, Brett Arthur (Diane), Laurie Boquist (Tim), Blake Nelson and Kate Nelson, three great grandchildren and many dear friends. Services will be held at 2PM, Saturday, August 22, 2009, Hansen Desert Hills Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale. Contributions may be made to The Crisis Nursery, 2334 E.
