    Christine "Chris" Lynne McKeown was born June 6, 1952 in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Roger and Evelyn (Winnike) McKeown. She graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in Sioux City, Iowa. Chris ran a 2nd Hand Store in Akron, Iowa and later was employed at Hawarden Motors in Hawarden, Iowa.

    Chris liked to swim and loved pets. She enjoyed watching the Olympics and talking on the phone with her many dear friends. After her mother Evelyn retired, they enjoyed traveling together to many destinations.

    Chris is survived by her fiancé and longtime companion, Kenny Ludwig; Kenny's children, Kevin and Lisa; her brothers, Tracy McKeown and Patrick McKeown; nieces and other relatives.

    She was preceded in death by her parents.

    Robert William McKeown, 62, 3505 Pierce St., died Sunday, Sept. 2, 1990, at his residence of cancer.
    Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Laurence Burns officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today with an evening service at 7 p.m. in Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
    Mr. McKeown was born June 26, 1928, at Wapello, Iowa. He married Evie Winnike June 5, 1951, at West Point, Iowa. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1954 from Iowa Falls, Iowa. He worked for more than 34 years as a pharmaceutical salesperson for the A.H. Robbins Co. and had been their northern Iowa representative since 1956. He was recently retired.
    Mr. McKeown was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He served in the Navy Submarine Division for two years.
    Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tracy of San Diego, Calif., and Patrick and his wife, Leatha, of Coto de Coza, Calif.; a daughter, Chris McKeown of Sioux City; a brother, Lewis McKeown of Muscatine, Iowa; and a sister, Phyllis Graff of Peru, Ill.
    Pallbearers will be Rick Martin, Larry Nebesnaik, Doug Cramer, John Campana, Steve Link and Dave Hogue.
    A memorial has been established in his name with Blessed Sacrament Grade School.

Burial of the cremated remains will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home.

    Evie was born Feb. 1, 1930, in West Point, Iowa, to Clem and Agnes Winnike. She lived with her family on a farm near West Point until the age of 18. After she graduated from high school, she moved to Mount Pleasant, Iowa, where she met her dear husband, Roger McKeown.

    They married June 15, 1951. From this marriage came three children. In 1972, she started a successful career for the Sioux City School System. She started at Central High School, then moved to North High School. At North High, she was the secretary to the student counselors. In 1992, she retired from North High and started her second career, traveling and being a grandmother.

    In her retirement years, she traveled many places throughout the world. But her favorite place was Sioux City.

    She is survived by her children, Christine McKeown and Kenny Ludwig, Tracy McKeown and Patrick and Leatha McKeown; grandchildren, Claire and Tilly; her siblings, Marcy McKinley, Genny Winnike, Ceny Gintz, Ray and Mary Winnike, Lee Winnike and Mary and Bill Cosselman; and many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; her parents, Clem and Agnes Winnike; and a sister, Clemy Beavers.

    Evie, we will all miss you!

    William (Stanley) McKeown passed away at Veteran’s hospital in Iowa City on February 18 after a two-weeks illness.
    He was born at Lucian, Okla., on December 11, 1896, son of John and Sara Shield McKeown. December 11, 1919 he married Reva Davis at Mediapolis. They were divorce in 1936.
    He married Mrs. Ann Kauffman on June 25, 1939 at Wapello. She survives as do his children: Louis Stanley McKeown, Jr., Muscatine; Roger William McKeown, Sioux City; Mrs. Richard (Phyllis Jean) Graff, Jacksonville, Ill., 11 grandchildren; his step-children, Mrs. Raymond Gerdes, Ainsworth; Max Kauffman, Bettendorf; John Kauffman, Maquoketa; 7 step-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Avis Daniels, Perry, Okla.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Chester McKeown.
    Services were held at Washington, Iowa, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of which he was a member. Rev. Dennis Stutred officiated. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

    Mediapolis (IA) -- Mrs. Reva E. McKeown, 81, for the past five years a resident of Turtle Creek Convalescent Center, LaSalle, Illinois, died Saturday, March 21, at Illinois Valley Community hospital, Peru, Illinois.

    She was born near Mediapolis September 15, 1899, to Samuel Oscar and Lilly Mae Purcell Davis. She married William Stanley McKeown in December of 1920.

    Surviving: Two sons, Lewis Stanley, Wilton, and Roger, Sioux City; daughter, Phyllis Graff, Utica, Illinois; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lewis Davis, Burlington.

    Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday, Fry Chapel, Mediapolis; Kossuth Cemetery.

    Ralph McKeown and Mrs. Conrad Casten and son, Herman, visited with relatives, Albert McKeown of St. Joseph, Mo., John McKeown of Agra, Okla., and his daughter, Mrs. Avis Daniels of Perry, Okla., who are visiting at the home of the Misses McKeown at Mediapolis.     Mr. and Mrs. John McKeown who live a mile north of Agra, started up highway 18 Sunday about 1 o’clock, to visit a sick child who lived a mile and a half north of the McKeown home. As Mr. McKeown made the turn into the home of Verdie Scheonhorse, their destination, their car was struck by a pick-up driven by Mr. Isenberg, sexton at the Cushing cemetery. Both cars were considerably damaged. With the exception of scratches to his face and a slightly sprained wrist of the Cushing man who was riding with Mr. Isenberg, no one was hurt. The sick girl whom the McKeowns set out to visit was very ill with her second attack of the measles. Mrs. Scheonhorse is a niece of Mrs. McKeown.

    Mediapolis , Ia. – Chester McKeown, with his brother, Stanley McKeown, of Washington, left Saturday for Agra, Okla., having been called by the death of their father, John L. McKeown, 85, who died that morning. He is survived by his wife, 2 sons and a daughter, Mrs. Daniel Percy, of Weleetka, Okla.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mediapolis Methodist church with Rev. O.B. Rogers in charge. Burial will be in Kossuth cemetery.

    John L. McKeown rites yesterday. Funeral services for John L. McKeown, 85, former resident of this community who died at Agra, Oklahoma, Saturday, May 5, were held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock at Mediapolis Methodist church, Rev. O. B. Rogers officiating. Rev. Rogers and Inez Ferril, accompanied by Mrs. Paul Thayer at the piano, sang. Burial was at Kossuth cemetery. He was born 1 1/2 miles north of Mediapolis, Dec. 29, 1858, the son of John and Margaret Ann McKeown. He grew to manhood in this vicinity and was married to Sarah A. Shields, March 21, 1888, to which union were born three children, all surviving. Mr. and Mrs. McKeown lived at Mediapolis two years after their marriage, then moving to Oklahoma where they spent 18 years. They moved back to Mediapolis, where Mrs. McKeown died in 1916. On returning to Oklahoma, Mr. McKeown married Miss Nora Stanley, July 21, 1921, after which he made his home in Oklahoma until his death. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Stanley of Washington and Chester of Mediapolis; one daughter, Mrs. Perry Daniels of Weleetka, Okla.; two brothers, Parker McKeown of Letts and Albert McKeown of St. Joseph, Mo., and two sisters, Miss Samantha McKeown and Mrs. Emma Brewster of Mediapolis. Six grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.

    Lillie May Purcell, daughter of Richard and Rebecca Purcell, was born August 21, 1865, and passed away at her home in Mediapolis, November 19, 1935, at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 29 days.

    She was united in marriage to Samuel Oscar Davis, August 29, 1885. Mrs. Davis spent her entire life in the Mediapolis community.

    Those with her husband, remaining to mourn her death are; Lewis Davis, of Oakville; Mrs. Elsie Borsch, of Chicago; Mrs. Nina Strawhacker, of Oakville; Mrs. Reva McKeown, of Washington; and Mrs. Nellie Clarin of Burlington. There are also twenty-two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

    The funeral service was held in Mediapolis Thursday afternoon, and burial was in the Kossuth cemetery.
