Memoir of Mrs. John G. McKeown. Mrs. Annie Parker McKeown died at her house north of Mediapolis, Iowa, March 6, 1892, at 12:55 P.M. She was born near Rathfriland, County of Down, Ireland, May 21, 1829, and come with her parents, John and Margaret Parker, to Rochester, New York and then to Zanesville, Ohio, where they resided until 1847, when they came to Des Moines County. She made a profession of faith and was received in Sharon (Reformed Presbyterian) congregation in 1848 and remained a consistent member until her death. She was united in marriage to John G. McKeown, Feb. 27, 1849, and was a devoted wife and mother. Twelve children were born to them. Three preceded her to the Realm of Light, and nine remain to mourn the loss of a loving, faithful mother. She had been a sufferer with creeping paralysis for some time. It had weakened her so much that she was not able to resist an attack of la grippe that seized her Jan 20, from which time she was unable to help herself, but in all her sufferings she was very patient, and able to say the Lord's will be done. She was conscious to the last, and peacefully passed away . She was ready and waiting for the summons, to enter into that Heavenly home, "an house not made with hand."
