Notes - Dennis Bohrofen WELLMAN, Iowa #45;- Dennis 'Denny' Bohrofen, 77, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a long illness. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Keota. There will be no visitation. A general memorial fund has been established. The Powell Funeral Home of Wellman is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Bohrofen was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Keota, the son of Alva and Cleo Clubb Bohrofen. He married Evelyn Baird on Jan. 21, 1945, in Keota. He graduated from Keota High School in 1941. He attended the Merchant Marine Academy in San Matio, Calif., and was a veteran of World War II. He farmed and lived in the Keota community. He was Director of Transportation for the Keota Community School District for 30 years, retiring and moving to Wellman in 1995. He lived at the Parkview Manor in Wellman since Sept. 16, 2000. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge, and was chairman of the Keota Centennial Celebration that took several years of planning. In his free time he enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Wellman; a son, Monte Bohrofen and his wife, Judy of Clive; a daughter, Tracy Bohrofen and her husband, Kent, Behrens of Omaha, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents.
