      Escondido – Robert Ray Cripps, 73, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at his home.
      Born Oct. 23, 1924, in Paxico, Kan., he lived in Escondido for 10 years. He was lead mechanic for Kaiser Cement corp. for 27 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
      Mr. Cripps was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Madolyn Cripps, earlier this year. He is survived by his son, Ronald Cripps of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Cathryn and Leonard Fyock of Sunnyvale; sister Lucille Wagner of Van Nuys; and grandchildren Kimberly Wilson and John Hooker.
      A private cremation is planned.
      The family suggests memorial donations to American Heart Association, San Diego County Chapter, PO Box 3625, San Diego, CA 92163-1625.
      Alhiser-Wilson Mortuary is handling arrangements.
