Dallas, Jan. 12. (UP) – A woman identified by police as Mildred Alliene Shields Franklin, 38 years old, was shot to death today and a few minutes later her husband was found wounded, but not critically.
H.C. Rhoden, a witness to the shooting of Mrs. Franklin, told police he had just opened the rear door of a welding shop where he is employed when he saw a couple in a car in the alley.

The man then fired a second shot at close range nearly tearing the woman’s shoulder off, Rhoden said. The woman was dead upon arrival at Parkland hospital.

Dallas, Jan. 12 (INS). – Mrs. Mildred Alliene Shields Franklin, 38-year-old Dallas embroidery worker, was killed Wednesday with two blasts from a shotgun by her estranged husband, Bruce, who shortly afterward shot and seriously wounded himself.
The shooting was witnessed in the murky dawn by an employee of a near-by machine shop, H.C. Rhoden. He told police the couple were sitting in a parked car when Mrs. Franklin jumped out of the car, screaming, “No, don’t do that.”

When Rhoden reappeared, the man and the car were gone.
Police found Franklin later, sprawled on the bed in his South Dallas trailer home beside a note admitting the slaying of Mrs. Franklin.
