      Smith Rites Set Monday

      Served 38 Years In Highway Dept.

      Funeral services for Fred C. Smith, Safety Engineer of the State Highway Department, will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Trinity Methodist Church in Lincoln. Burial will be in Superior.

      Smith, 69, was born in Superior. He served 38 years with the State Highway Department and 4 years with the Illinois Highway Department.

      He was Division Engineer at McCook and Lincoln and was assigned the new post of Safety Engineer last March.

      He is survived by his wife, Edith, one son, Robert, of Lincoln, a daughter, Elizabeth, of St. Louis, Mo., two sisters, Mrs. Stella King of Arapahoe and Mrs. Blanche Dahlgren of Superior, and one grandson.
