- Morning Sun Resident Is Found Dead
John Kilpatrick, 84 Years of Age, Dies at Home of Daughter.
Morning Sun, Ia., Aug. 4. – John Kilpatrick, who has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Margaret Wilson for the greater part of the past year, was found dead in his bed about 5:30 o’clock Monday morning. He had been in failing health, but the day before was about the home as usual. When his daughter went to his bedside, she though he was quietly sleeping, but soon learned that he had peacefully died in his sleep.
Deceased was one of the early pioneers and was born in Bloomington, Ind., Feb. 2, 1841. He, with his parents, Daniel and Mary McCaughan Kilpatrick and brothers and sisters came to Iowa and settled on a farm near Garland when he was 8 years old. He was united in marriage to Maria Walkinshaw in 1874 and they enjoyed 50 years of married life, filled with joys and sorrows, happiness and love, and Mrs. Kilpatrick passed away Dec. 11, 1924.
Surviving are two children, Alfred M. Kilpatrick and Mrs. Margaret M. Willson, and eight grandchildren, Florence, Lester, Kyle, Wylie and Rolf Kilpatrick and Bruce, Helen and Grace Willson. He also leaves three aged brother who are all over 70 years of age, and are Daniel Kilpatrick of Morning Sun, the Rev. Alexander Kilpatrick of Valencia, Pa., Neil Kilpatrick of Garland Ia. Two brothers and two sisters have preceded him in death. He was a life-long member of the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian church.
