- Stella Mae Lucas, 91, of rural Sperry, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1992, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born June 29, 1901, at Davenport, she was the daughter of Frank and Martha Sommerfeld Ruschill. She married Harry C. Lucas on Feb. 12, 1921, in Dodgeville. He died June 26, 1990.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and its Ladies Guild and a 50-year member of Bell Rebekah Lodge in Sperry.
Survivors include five sons, Allan Lucas of Crawfordsville, Wilbur Lucas of Montrose, Lloyd Lucas of Burlington, Russell Lucas of West Burlington and mMrvin Lucas of Thomas, Ill.; three daughters, Marcille Walker of Burlington and Erma Baker and Shirley Granaman, both of Sperry; two sisters, Beatrice Mehmken of Sperry and Hattie Nelson of Galesburg, Ill; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a step great-great-grandchild. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel. The funeral for Mrs. Lucas will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. John’s United Church of Christ with the Rev. Duane Cavins and Dean Moberg officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A memorial has been established for St. John’s United Church of Christ.
