    • Myrtle Jones Hazen
      Corydon
      Myrtle Jones Hazen, 97, Iowa, formerly of Mt. Pleasant and Salem, died Sunday, April 3, 2005 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon. Funeral services have been set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Dr. Edward Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Cemetery, north of New London. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. in the evening. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.
      Myrtle was born April 3, 1907 near Winfield, IA, the daughter of William and Mary Elizabeth (Gilyeart) Schenk. She graduated from High School and was united in marriage to Lloyd Edward Jones September 30, 1924 at her parent’s home near Mt. Union. He receded her in death October 17, 1984. She later married Harry Hazen April 8, 1989 at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. He preceded her in death march 5, 1994.
      Survivors include children, Doris Husted of South Sioux City, NE, Mary Lou Roberts and husband Tom of Powersville, MO, Dale Hazen and wife Betty of Yarmouth, IA, and Helen Garrels and husband Irvin of Danville, IA; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
      She was precede in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Lloyd Myron; daughters, Betty Husted and Lorna Wagler, grandson, Philip Husted, grandchildren, Judy Husted, Teresa Wagler and Jennifer Roberts, brothers, Ray Schenk, Arthur Schenk, Ralph Schenk and Carl Schenk; and sisters, Florence Totemeier, Edna Crocker and Mildred Mathews.
