    Man Seriously Cut.
    Stilwell, Okla., Oct. 17. – (Special) – Carrying part of his protruding bowels in his hands after his stomach had been ripped open with a knife, James Bateman of Stilwell walked several blocks to his home. Bateman is in a critical condition but refuses to thrown any light on the affair, hence no arrest has been made.

    Oilton Civic Leader Dies
    Walter Bateman, 72, Is Given Stilwell Rites
    Last rites for Walter Bateman, 72, Oilton city judge and constable were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist church.
    A second service was held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Robert funeral chapel in Stilwell, with burial in the Stilwell cemetery. Peek funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
    Active in Oilton civic affairs, Judge Bateman died at his home Friday following a heart attack. He was a member of the Oilton City Council, on which he was serving his second term, and was president of the Memorial association, which had charge of the upkeep of the cemetery. He was a member of the Oilton First Baptist church.
    A former oil worker, Mr. Bateman moved to Oilton in 1915 and completed 33 years with Pure Oil company in Oilton before his retirement in 1952. He was born in Crawford county, Ark., and lived in Stilwell before moving to Oilton.
    Survivors are his widow, Ersula, of the home at 104 East Third; two sons, Cleo Bateman of Oilton and Earl Bateman of Drumright; two daughters, Mrs. Edna Farbro, Beggs, and Mrs. Maxine Ghere, Chico, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

    Commital services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) in the Stilwell cemetery for Jessie Ridenhour, a former resident of the Stilwell area. Services were held this morning in Tulsa, where he has made his home for some time.
