Mrs. J. I. Brown, 77, died at 3:15 o'clock Friday morning January 26, ;at her home in Mt. Olive, after an illness of ten months. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Rials Creek Methodist church in Simpson county, with interment in the Rials Creek cemetery. Rev. Gray, pastor of the Magee Methodist church, and Rev. Easterling of Mt. Olive officiated.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, J. I. Brown of Mt. Olive; three sons, John L. Brown, San Francisco, Calif; J. T. Brown, Magee; W. K. Brown, Mt. Olive; three daughters, Mrs. J. A. Raymond – Mr. W.A. Bateman, 83, resident of Hazlehurst and Raymond, died Sunday at 12:15 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L.A. Beasley at Raymond.
Survivors include six sons, G.E., Robert, and Woodrow of Memphis, Roy of Redwood City, Calif., Andy, of Albany, Ga., and Harold of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Beasley of Raymond.

Mrs. Alice Berry of Harrisville died Friday morning at the Sydney Convalescent Home in Vicksburg. She was 84 years old and was the daughter of the late E. S. Bateman and Marina Bush Bateman. She was born and reared in the Pleasant Hill community, and was the widow of the late James Franklin Berry. Funeral services were conducted from the Harrisville Baptist Church Saturday afternoon with Rev. E. L. Warren officiating, assisted by Rev. W. P. Miley of Braxton. Interment was in the Harrisville cemetery with Mendenhall Funeral Home In charge! of arrangements.
Survivors include one son, James F. Berry, Jr., of Mobile, Ala.: seven daughters, Mrs. A. S. Neely, Miss Muriel Berry and Mrs. Ellis Felts, all of Harrisville, Mrs. S. O. Ross of Vicksburg, Mrs. J. V. Magee of Braxton, Mrs. W. N. Neely of Mandeville, and Mrs. Thomas J. Gipson of Ocean Springs; twenty nine grandchildren; and thirty three great grandchildren.

Funeral services for John Henry Bateman, 64, resident of Springdale for the past 12 years, who died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon about 4:45 in the university greenhouse at Fayetteville, were held Monday morning at 9:30 at his home on Maple street, conducted by Dr. Otto Whitington, pastor of the local First Baptist church. Special music was by members of the Baptist choir. Pallbearers were William Keeton of Fayetteville, Lee Sanders, R. E. Vick, Winfred Needham, John W. Cloer and Harvey Jones.
Burial was in Bluff Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Callison and Riggs Funeral home.
Mr. Bateman was born August 26, 1878 at Hattiesburg, Miss., a son of Elisha and Maria Bateman. He had lived at Stillwell and Westville, Okla., and moved to Springdale from Texarkana. For several years he had been employed by the Agricultural department of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
Mr. Bateman is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eva Brogdon Bateman and one daughter, Betty Lou Bateman of the home; also by one brother and one sister, Andrew Bateman and Mrs. Alice Broxton and one half-brother, J. A. Purvis, all of Mississippi.
Mr. Bateman was a member of the Baptist church.

Madill – Funeral services for John R. Robinson, 78, resident of Marshall county since 1908, were at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist church in Madill.
Robinson died Friday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Henry Luker, after a two-year illness. He is survived by his wife, Ida, with whom he celebrated a golden wedding anniversary last December 26; two other daughters, Mrs. Mary Eslick, Durent; and Mrs. Arch McKenzie, Mead; and five sons, Bill and Dick, Durant; and John, Rudolph, and M.A., Ardmore.

Funeral Services for J.H. Robinson Are Held Sunday
Funeral services for John Rutherford Robinson, who died at his home here Saturday, were held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon.
He had lived in Madill since 1909 and was a carpenter by trade.
Mr. and Mrs. Robinson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Dec. 23, 1946.
Mr. Robinson was born in Texas Dec. 9, 1868. He had been a member of the Masonic lodge for many years. He had been in ill health for 12 years and had been bedfast for the past two years.
The Rev. Bert I. Cherry conducted the funeral services and the music was furnished by the Baptist choir. Burial was in the Madill-Legion cemetery. Watts Funeral home was in charge of all arrangements.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife Ida Robinson; eight children, John Robinson, Rudolph Robinson and M.A. Robinson, Ardmore; Bill Robinson, Dick Robinson and Mrs. Mary Eslick, Durant; Mrs. Arch McKenzie, Mead and Mrs. H.L. Luker, Madill.
Twenty-four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.
Active pallbearers were Harmon Spicer, R.G. McCoy, Loren Harris, Ray Carter, Bris Cantrell and Gene Flynt.

Daniel Clinton Bateman, 88, of 4804 Eastline Rd., father of City Secretary Roy A. Bateman, died Wednesday night in a hospital.
The lifelong Tarrant County resident was a retired public school custodian. He was a member of Evans Avenue Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World.
Also surviving are four sons, Marvin Bateman of Fort Worth, C.E. Bateman of Dallas, Leonard Bateman of Waco and Raymond Bateman of Los Angeles; three daughters, Mrs. H.G. Calk of Fort Worth, Mrs. Homer Cates of Bryan and Mrs. Hugh Robinson of Harlingen; 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Annie Sledge, 76, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday at her home, 829 Texas St., following an illness of many months.
Mrs. Sledge, daughter of the late D. C. [sic] and Jane Bateman, was born June 5, 1877, in Fort Worth, Texas. She received her education in Texas. She was married to J. R. Sledge, who survives her, on March 2, 1901, in Fort Worth. For the past 12 years Mrs. Sledge had made her home in Pine Bluff.
Mrs. Sledge was a member of the South Side Baptist church, a member of the Lydia Bible Class, the W.M.U. and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, J. R. Sledge, two daughters, Mrs. E. A. Reinhardt, Emporia, Virginia, and Mrs. J. D. Williams, Pine Bluff, Ark., one son, C. E. Melton, Sr., of Alexandria, La., one brother, D. C. Bateman, Fort Worth, Tex., eleven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Lloyd Sparkman, pastor of the South Side Baptist church, and Rev. Spencer Johnson, were held at 2 o'clock today from the South Side Baptist church. Burial was in Graceland cemetery, South Funeral Home in charge.

Stilwell, Feb. 13 – Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Littlejohn, 60, who died at her home south of Stilwell Monday morning, were held Tuesday afternoon at the home with Rev. Evan Brewer officiating.
Burial was in the Chuculate cemetery under the direction of the Moore funeral home of Sallisaw. Survivors include her husband, Charlie Littlejohn of the home, several children and a brother, Jim Bateman of Stilwell.

Walter Bateman, 72, Is Given Stilwell Rites
Last rites for Walter Bateman, 72, Oilton city judge and constable were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist church.
A second service was held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Robert funeral chapel in Stilwell, with burial in the Stilwell cemetery. Peek funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Active in Oilton civic affairs, Judge Bateman died at his home Friday following a heart attack. He was a member of the Oilton City Council, on which he was serving his second term, and was president of the Memorial association, which had charge of the upkeep of the cemetery. He was a member of the Oilton First Baptist church.
A former oil worker, Mr. Bateman moved to Oilton in 1915 and completed 33 years with Pure Oil company in Oilton before his retirement in 1952. He was born in Crawford county, Ark., and lived in Stilwell before moving to Oilton.
Survivors are his widow, Ersula, of the home at 104 East Third; two sons, Cleo Bateman of Oilton and Earl Bateman of Drumright; two daughters, Mrs. Edna Farbro, Beggs, and Mrs. Maxine Ghere, Chico, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Robinson was born Feb. 5, 1911, at Madill, to John R. and Ida M. Chaney Robinson, He died Dec. 28, 1999, in Ardmore.
He married Frances Black Jan. 20, 1939, and was a peanut farmer. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a 32nd Degree Mason of the McAlister Consistory, recently receiving his 50-year pin.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son, Johnny Robinson, Ardmore; a daughter, Sherrian Geurin, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Jeff made his home with his father, Charlie LITTLEJOHN and aunt, Mrs. Lettie POWELL. Death was due to a brain hemorrhage, following a coughing spell.
Other survivors include his son Bobby of the home and three brothers, Joe, Felix and Wash LITTLEJOHN and two sisters, Mrs. Harrison BROWN of Santanta, Kansas, and Mrs. Gertrude REDDMAN of Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four daughters, Carlene Salsman, Margaret Ann Brown, Linda Mae Hothouse and Mary Lavon Huggins; and two sons, Joe Harvey Brown and William Harrison Brown. Also preceding her were 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Roy Brown and wife, Neva of Stilwell and Troy Brown and wife Anita of Sublette, KS; 6 daughters, Myrtle Stages of Shamrock, TX, Opal King, Maggie Ann Cantrell and husband Cecil, Wanda Buckner and husband Adrian, Connie Smith and husband Dallas, Irene Kay and husband Tracy all of Stilwell; one brother George Washington Adair Littlejohn of Stilwell; one sister, Gertrude Reddin of Leflore, OK; 32 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren plus 2 great great grandchildren.
