    Mrs. Clista Spivey, 85, of Livingston died April 27 at her home. A native of Rockcastle County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and and Sarah Durham McHaffey.

    She was a member of the Holiness church.

    Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Spivey.

    She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Bertha Terry of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Rebecca Waddle of Frankfort, Mrs. Sally Travillian and Mrs. Tesallen Carpenter, both of Livingston, Mrs. Nevarrene Robinson of Lynn, Three sons, Bentley and Elmer Spivey, both of Livingston, Casper Spivey of Lamero, 40 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and one brother, James McHaffey.

    Funeral services were conducted Saturday April 29, at Morning View Holiness Church with Bros. Rolla Cornelius, George Murphy, and John Durham officiating. Burial was in Bales Cemetery.

    Sparks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Rebecca Waddle, age 75, of Lexington, Ky. and formerly of Livingston, passed away after a long illness Sunday, March 27, 1977 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. She was Born in Livingston, Ky. on December 10, 1901 the daughter of the late Samuel Spivey and Clista Mahaffey and was a member of the Livingston Pentecostal Church.

    She is survived by her husband, Mr. Bert Waddle of Frankfort; five sons, Farmer Waddle of Livingston, Charles, Clyde, Hardin, and Samuel all of Frankfort, Ky.; three daughters, Mrs. Louise Linton of Frankfort, Ky., Mrs. Ann Jennings and Mrs. Maxine Smith both of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, Elmer Spivey and Casper Spivey both of Livingston; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Terry of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Nevia Robinson of Richmond, Indiana and Mrs. Teddy Carpenter of Livingston, Ky. Nineteen grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the Morning View Holiness Church by Bro. Lester Arnold and Bro. Dean Carpenter.

    Burial was in the Morning View Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Dowell and Martin Funeral Home.

    George Spivey, aged about 21, of Livingston, was killed Monday night by an auto on the pike between Parkers Creek and Livingston. He was walking along the pike on a sharp curve when struck by the car and died without retaining consciousness. Bradley Summers, also of Livingston, was arrested and placed under bond, accused of the killing, which of course was accident. Mt. Vernon Signal.

    Mt. Vernon, Ky., Aug. 20 - Joe Clark,22, said by officers to have confessed the fatal shooting of John Spivey, 21, was at liberty under $2,000 bond today pending a hearing on the murder charge against him.
    The shooting occurred Saturday night in the Gauley Branch section, a half-mile south of Livingston, and Clark was arrested Sunday. Alvin Gabbard, Willie Abrams and Willie Jones also were brought here and questioned by officers as eye-witnesses to the slaying. All said the five youths had been drinking heavily and that the shots were fired after Spivey accused Clark of stealing money from him and advanced on the latter with a knife. Officers said they could find no weapons at the scene.
    The victim, a son of Sam Spivey, was killed instantly when struck in the chest by two bullets from a pistol.

    Mt. Vernon Slayer Free on $2,000 Bond
    Mt. Vernon, Ky., Aug. 20 – (AP) – Waiving preliminary trail, Joe Clark, 22, was free under $2,000 bond today in connection with the fatal shooting Saturday of John Spivey, 21, near Livingston.
    Authorities said the shooting followed a drinking bout. They said they were told Clark shot Spivey after the latter threatened him.

    Jackson County Youth Is Acquitted of Murder Charge
    Mt. Vernon, Ky., Jan. 24. (AP) – Joe Clark 22, of Jackson county, charged with the murder of John Spivey, 29, who was slain August 18 of last year, was acquitted here today by a jury which deliberated three hours. The defense contended that Clark killed Spivey in self defense.

    Survivors are three sons, Robby of Richmond and John and Marvin, both of Dayton, Ohio; eight daughters, Mrs. Adell Mullins and Mrs. Ann Miller, both of East Bernstadt, Mrs. Ruby Lucas, Mrs. Dorothy Franks and Mrs. Brenda Sue Allen, all of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Penny Morris and Mrs. Joan Hayes, both of Livingston and Mrs. Lucille Taylor of Mason, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Becky Waddle, Mrs. Sally Travilian, Mrs. Teddy Carpenter and Mrs. Bertha Terry; two brothers, Casper and Elmer Spivey and 22 grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25 at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Durham officiating. Burial will be in the Bales Cemetery.

    He is survived by his wife, Bernice Spivey of Livingston and two sisters, Bertha Terry of Cincinnati, Ohio and Tessilene Carpenter of Livingston.

    Services were March 19 at Morning View Holiness Church by Bro. Billy Medley. Burial was in the Bales Cemetery.

    Dowell and Marin Funeral Home was in Charge of Arrangements.

    Pallbearers were Jack Edwards, John Edwards, Larry Ponder, Jackie Ponder, Darrell Alcorn, Glen Parker and Paul Rowe.

    Survivors include her husband, Ellie; four sons, Homer, Jim and Tery, all of Richmond, and Tim of Lynn; three daughters, Glenda Tucker of Lynn, Sandra Mullins of Cincinnati and Sherry Westlake of Marina Del Rey, Calif.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha Terry of Cincinnati and Tessaline Carpenter of Livingston; two brothers, Elmer and Casper Spivey, both of Livingston.
    Funeral services for Nevareen Robinson will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Lynn Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. C. P/ Hurry officiating. Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery, Fountain City. Friend may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas Funeral Home and after noon Wednesday at the church.

    Mrs. Linton was born in Livingston, KY on December 27, 1940, to the late Bert and Rebecca Spivy Waddle. She was a homemaker.

Burial will follow at Old Casteel Cemetery. The family of Bobby Harrison Ponder will receive friends after 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at London Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to London Funeral Home toward funeral expense. Serving as pallbearers; LeRoy Mills, Howard Pace, Anthony Brown, Jeff Adams, Josh Adams, Jason Browning, Terry Browning, Larry Tabor, Peyton Tabor, and Jeremy Holland.
