    Edward H. Schuler, 81, resident of Sperry, died Thursday at 8:50 p.m. at Klein hospital. He was born Apr. 22, 1884 in Des Moines county, the son of Joseph and Mary Meyers Schuler.
    He married Etta Walker in 1910. She died in 1918 and he married Ruth Thompson Murphy in 1920. He was a member of the Kingston Methodist church.
    Surviving are: His wife of Sperry; three daughters, Mrs. Alice Sperfslage and Mrs. Wilma Wunnenberg, Burlington nd Dorothy Reeb, Sperry; a son, Joseph, Wever, and a step son, Robert Murphy, Burlington, a sister Miss Harriett Sprauge, Bellwood, Ill. seven grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
    Services: Sunday, 2 p.m, Fry chapel, Mediapolis; Memorial Park, Burlington.

    PIONEER OF DES MOINES COUNTY DIES AT HOME
    Joseph Schuler, Civil War Veteran, Enlisted Twice in Iowa Regiments.
    Joseph Schuler, 80, Des Moines county pioneer, and Civil War veteran, died yesterday (December 19, 1921) at his home, ten miles north of Burlington, from a complication of diseases. He was ill for only a short time.
    Mr. Schuler was born in Baden, Germany, April 10, 1841. He came lo the United States with his parents at the age of four, first locating in Ohio, and later coining to Burlington.
    He enlisted in Company E, Twenty-fifth Iowa infantry, in 1861. He was honorably discharged a year later on account of illness.
    Enlists Again.
    Seven months later he again enlisted, this time in Company F. Eighth Iowa Veteran Volunteer Infantry, remaining in service until the end of the war.
    He saw service at Fort Spanish, the siege of Vicksburg, and also in General Forrest's raid on Memphis.
    He married Mary E. Myers, May 28, 1868.
    Survived By Widow.
    Besides his widow, he is survived by the following children: Mrs. H. J. Tackenburg, Rock Island, Illinois; Mrs. Ed. N. Colby, Burlington; Mrs. J. M. Welch, Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Boyd Brumm, Sperry, Iowa; Charles E. Schuler, Sperry, Iowa: John F. Schuler, Chicago: Edward H. Schuler, Sperry, Iowa, and Harriett E. and Lillian Schuler, Burlington.
    In addition, he is survived by eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One sister. Mrs. Catherine Kraul, of Burlington, and a brother, Charles Schuler, Des Moines county, also survive.
    One daughter. Mrs, Pearl Scott, died some time ago.
    Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

    JOSEPH SCHULER FUNERAL WILL BE HELD TOMORROW
    Funeral services for Joseph Schuler, Des Moines county pioneer and Civil war veteran, who died Monday at his home north of Burlington, will be held Thursday morning (December 22, 1921) at 10 from the residence to Kingston M. E. church at 11. Services at the home will be private.
    Interment will be in Kossuth cemetery.

    Eighty-Year-Old Local Woman Succumbs to Illness At Home On Ashmun Street
    Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Schuler, 80, widow of Gilbert (sic) Schuler, died at her home, 1231 Ashmun street, at 2:30 yesterday afternoon.
    She was a native of Burlington but had lived in Benton township far many years before returning here nine years ago. Mrs. Schuler, whose maiden name was Myers, was born in Burlington January 29, 1850. She was married to Mr. Schuler on May 28, 1868, in Burlington.
    She is survived by nine children, Mrs. H. A. Tackenberg of Rock Island, Charles E. Schuler of Kingston, John F. Schuler of Chicago, Mrs. Julia E. Colby of West Point, Mrs. J. M. Welch of Los Angeles, Mrs. C. K. Walker of Burlington, Edward Schuler of Sperry. Mrs. Frank Sprague of Chicago and Miss Lillian Schuler of Burlington. One daughter preceded her in death.
    Mrs. Schuler was a member of the Kingston Methodist church. The body was taken to Prugh's chapel pending funeral arrangements.
