    Mrs. Hester Isabel Slater, wife of Edward Slater, 1017 Gaines street, Davenport, died at 8 a.m. today at the family home, following a short illness.
    She was born on July 8, 1905 in Carman, Ill., where she received her education. On Aug. 16, 1923, she was married to Edward Slater of Burlington. The couple resided there for several years, coming to Davenport in 1925, where they had since resided. Mrs. Slate was a member of the Church of Christ.
    Surviving are her husband; one son, Richard at home; one daughter, Doris at home; her father, Albert Graham of Burlington; eight sisters, Mrs. John Jackson, Mrs. C.O. DeHauge and Mrs. Ed Wills of Burlington; Mrs. Ray Chestnut of Weaver, Ia., Mrs. William Hammer of Ft. Madison, Ia., Mrs. Harry Dowell of Carman, Ill., Mrs. W.A. Baker of Belle Plaine, Ia., and Mrs. Judith Carman of Fairfield, Ia., and three brothers, Ben Graham of Waterloo., Ia., James of Vetal, N.D., and Phillip of Carman, Ill.
    The body was taken to the Hill & Fredericks mortuary and will be sent to Burlington, either Friday or Saturday for funeral services and burial there.

    The Slater Funeral.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Hester Slater, wife of Edward Slater, who died at her home, 1017 Gaines street, Wednesday morning after three days’ illness were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ, Burlington. Burial was in Bebe cemetery, Burlington.
    The Rev. Emil H. Burg of the Church of Christ officiated. Mrs. Maude Middleman sang two hymns.
    Bearers were John Jackson, Edward Wills, William Hammer, William Racker, Russell Parman, and C.O. DeHague.
