      The Burlington Hawk Eye. Tuesday, 11 July 1911.
      Wapello child is trampled to death.
      Cora, twin daughter of Mr. Joseph Schmeiser, follows father to pasture and horse steps on her.

      Wapello, Ia. July 10. - Cora, one of the twin children of Mr. and Mrs Jos. Schmeiser, residing west of Wapello, was trampled to death by a horse on Sunday morning. The father arose earlier than the rest of the family and went to the pasture to drive the horse into the barnyard and the little girl followed him. Coming in with the horse, the father saw the child and called for her to leave by another gate. But she was too late, and the horses surrounded her and she was stepped on by one of them. Doctors from Wapello were summoned, but the child only died about thirty minutes after the accident. She was about three and one-half years old. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the home. Interment in Wapello Cemetery.
