Mediapolis, Ia., Dec. 3 – Many friends attended the funeral of the late Gust Burgus held at the German church southwest of Kingston, Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Mr. Burgus lived just south of Mediapolis for a number of years. He had been in failing health for some time. Mr. Burgus was born near Kingston in 1961 and died at his home Thursday, age 67 years. He was united in marriage in 1884 to Emma Wiegard who survives him. He is also survived by six sons and six daughters. They are Edward Burgus, John Burgus and Henry Burgus of Burlington, Herbert and Joseph Burgus of Sperry, and Arthur Burgus at home. Mrs. Fred Buescher and Mrs. Carl Gerling of Sperry, Mrs. Samuel Schaefer of Fairfield, Mrs. Wm. Knott and Amelia Burgus of Chicago, and Alma Burgus at home. One daughter, Anna, preceded him in death. He is also survived by four sisters, two brothers and eighteen grandchildren. Mr. Burgus was a member of the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church and of the I.O.O.V. lodge of Sperry.
