She earned a degree in nursing and worked as a registered nurse and administrator at the Burlington Hospital for more than 25 years. In 1951, Shirley married Harold Nyberg. Later, she moved with her family to Walton. Faith and family were important to Shirley who cared for others her entire life. Living in the Lincoln area for the last 20 years she provided in-home care for the elderly.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Lewis and Harold Nyberg.
