- Funeral services for Mrs. Anderson held on Monday.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth E. Anderson, 72, of Aledo, were held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Reiser Funeral Home in Aledo with the Rev. Jerry Goodrich, pastor of the Aledo Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial was in the Friends Cemetery, Salem, Ia.
Mrs. Anderson died at 5:45 Thursday night, April 17, in the Mercer County Hospital following an extended illness.
The former Ruth Newman was born Jan. 22, 1897, in Morning Sun, Ia., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Add Newman. She attended Morning Sun schools.
She was first married to Phillips Shaffner and following his death married Jesse Berrie who also preceded her in death. She then married Guy Anderson on Sept. 4, 1955, in Aledo.
The couple first resided in New Boston and moved to Aledo in 1957. He died on Feb. 26, 1965.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Aledo and the New Boston American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edith Sanderson of West Point Ia.; two sons, Charles Shaffner of Pomona, Calif., and John Shaffner of Bay City, Tex.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Marie Brumbaugh of Farmington, Ia.; Mrs. Nina Mitchell of Montrose, Ia., Mrs. Ida Plummer of Mount Pleasant, Ia., and Mrs. Irene Hinkle of Willington, Kan.
