- Arvilla A. Kelley, 65, of Mediapolis died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Born Oct. 10, 1945, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arthur and Della Schmidt Burgus. On April 9, 1972, she married George F. Kelley in Mediapolis.
Mrs. Kelley and her husband owned Split Rails Antiques for the last 30 years. She worked nine years at Fry's Variety Basement, eight years as a dietary aide at Prairie Ridge Care Center, and seven years at Mediapolis News. She lived her entire life in Mediapolis, where she attended grade school and graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1964. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mediapolis.
She enjoyed flowers, collecting dolls and Jewel T. Autumn Leaf dishes and going to flea markets, garage sales, thrift shop and antique shows, especially at Old Threshers in Mount Pleasant.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Sean Kelley of Mediapolis; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Kelley will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerleen Schlesser officiating. Burial will be in Kossuth Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Memorials have been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church and Mediapolis Ambulance Service.
