    Dorothy Marie Springsteen, 82, of Burlington, died at 8:25 AM Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.

    Born January 11, 1932, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of George W. and Alta Benkert Riemann. On July 15, 1950, she married Elmer Charles Springsteen in Des Moines County.

    Dorothy had worked as a secretary for several businesses in Burlington including Sylvania and Burlington Hospital. She also had held the position as the first ward clerk for the Burlington Hospital.

    She was a 1950 graduate of Huron High School.

    She was of the Methodist faith. She took pride in being a good wife, mother, and grandma. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always had an ice cream cone or homemade oatmeal cookies ready for them with they visited. Some of Dorothy's hobbies were putting puzzles together, working outside with her flowers and reading. She especially enjoyed loving and caring for her pet birds, Teddy and Peaches.

    Survivors include her husband,one son, two daughters, five grandchildren, five sisters, and one brother, and numerous nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Florence Miller.
