    Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Marie Charlotte Wunnenberg, who died at her home near Mediapolis, Thursday evening, April 26, were held at First Presbyterian church here at 2 p.m. Sunday, with Dr. H. J. Findlay officiating. Burial was in Memorial cemetery in Burlington.
    Mrs. Wunnenberg had been ill about three week.
    She was born in Benton township, Des Moines county, Iowa, October 5, 1961, the daughter of Frederick and Sophia Sielerman. She was married to Otto Wunnenberg Sept. 29, 1886. He preceded her in death, April 27, 1942.
    Surviving are four children: Clarence F. Wunnenberg of Morning Sun, Villars H. Wunnenberg of Burlington, Mary and Grace at home. Others surviving are: three grandchildren; Mrs. Home Ball, San Diego, Calif; Harold V. Wunnenberg RT2/c, stationed in the South Pacific, and Geraldine Wunnenberg, Burlington; two brothers, Fred and John Sielerman of Sperry, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Wischmeyer of Morning Sun and Miss Carrie Sielerman of Sperry.
    IN early life Mrs. Wunnenberg was baptized, confirmed, and became a member of the Latty Evangelical church. Later she transferred her membership to First Presbyterian church of Mediapolis, where she attended regularly until the latter years of her life.
    She was a home-loving wife and mother. Her kindness and generosity will long be remembered by her family and many friends.

    Mediapolis – Mrs. Ann Marie Charlotte Wunnenberg died at her home near here Thursday at 5:40 p.m. following an illness of 3 weeks.
    Born in Benton township Oct. 5, 1961, she was the daughter of Frederick and Sophia Sielerman. She was married to Otto Wunnenberg on Sept. 29, 1996. He died April 27, 1942.
    She leaves 4 children: Clarence F., Morning Sun; Villars, Burlington; Grace and Mary, at home; 3 grandchildren: Mrs. Homer Ball, San Diego, Cal.; Harold V., KT 2-c, stationed in the South Pacific; and Geraldine of Burlington. One granddaughter, Mrs. Clarice Dwinell, died in 1939. Surviving also are 2 brothers, Frederick and John Sielerman of Sperry; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Mary Wischmeyer, Morning Sun, and Carrie Sielerman of Sperry.
    She was a member of Mediapolis Presbyterian church, where services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m.

    Morning Sun – Clarence F. Wunnenberg, 90, died Wednesday, June 18, at St. Francis Continuation Care center, Burlington. He was born to Otto and Anna Seilerman Wunnenberg Dec. 8, 1889, in Des Moines county. July 5, 1917 he married Marie Ruppert at Oquawka, Ill.
    He was a retired Morning Sun postmaster, a World War I veteran and a member of Hays-Scott Post 112 American Legion, serving as post adjutant for many years. He was secretary of Zerah Lodge, AF&AM and a member of Eastern Star, Morning Sun Lions club and First United Presbyterian church. Surviving: two sisters, Mary and Grace Wunnenberg, 2415 S. Main, Burlington.
    Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Pierce funeral home, the Rev. Fred Harris, Elmwood cemetery. A memorial has been established.

    Villars H. Wunnenberg, 1209 S. Seventh, died at Burlington hospital Saturday following an extended illness.
    He was born at Sperry on July 28, 1893, the son of Otto and Ann Sielerman Wunnenberg and married Verrold Ahlstrand Nov. 26, 1919, at Monmouth, Ill.
    A veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion and the Zion United Church of Christ, he worked as a toll collector on the MacArthur bridge for over 17 years before retirement in 1956.
    Surviving are his wife; a son, Harold V. Wunnenberg, Burlington; two daughters, Mrs. Homer (Evelyn) Ball, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Jack (Geraldine) Volker, Everau, France; two sisters, Mary Wunnenberg and Grace Wunnenberg, both of Burlington; one brother, Clarence F. Wunnenberg, Morning Sun; four grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.
    Services are pending at Prugh’s chapel.
    Burial, with military services at graveside, will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

    The funeral for Miss Wunnenberg will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prugh’s Chapel with the Rev. David Lukov officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call any time at Prugh’s.

    She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She loved flowers, animals, doing yard work and maintaining her home.
    Survivors include two nieces, Gerry Voelker of Burlington and Evelyn Ball of San Diego.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, two brothers and one nephew.
    There will be no visitation.
    The graveside service for Miss Wunnenberg will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Forrest Krummel officiating.

    Mrs. W. Dwinell dies suddenly of pneumonia
    Columbus Junction – Mrs. S. A. Dwinell was called to Burlington Thursday by the serious illness of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. William Dwinell of Morning Sun, who was taken ill with pneumonia Thursday morning and died at 1:20 in the afternoon in the Burlington hospital. William Dwinell is on the USS Wright which is now at Honolulu and was sent a cablegram informing him of his wife’s death.
    Mrs. Dwinell was formerly Miss Clarice Wunnenberg of Morning Sun, and she and William Dwinell were married last summer when Mr. Dwinell was hone on furlough to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Dwinell, Columbus Junction.

    Mrs. Clarice Dwinell dies at hospital today.
    Passing follows brief illness with pneumonia.
    Mrs. Clarice Wunnenberg Dwinell, 21, of this city, died at Mercy hospital, Burlington, shortly after the noon hour today. She was rushed to the hospital this morning critically ill with pneumonia, and death followed as noted above. Arrangements for the funeral have not been announced. Mrs. Dwinell’s husband is in the navy, leaving for the west coast in August to resume his naval duties on the USS Wright. They were unite din marriage at Iowa City, August 1st, while Mr. Dwinell was home on a furlough. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Wunnenberg of this city, grew to young womanhood here an graduated from the local high school in 1936.

    Last rites held for Mrs. Wm. A. Dwinell
    Large numbers pay tribute to worthy young woman.
    The last rites for Mrs. Clarice Wunnenberg Dwinell, whose death occurred at Mercy hospital, Burlington, Thursday, Oct. 26, following a few hours illness with pneumonia, were held from the Presbyterian church in this city Sunday afternoon, attended by a concourse that completely filled the church. Rev. O. L. Byrns, pastor of the deceased, conducted the service, assisted by Rev. W.A. Stamp of Burlington, friend of the Dwinell family. Mrs. Raymond Pogemiller and Mrs. Albert Pogemiller sang, with organ accompaniment by Mrs. Richard Mecklenberg. The interment was at Elmwood cemetery, the pall bearers being Clarence Ruppert, Edwin Ruppert, Gerald Ruppert, Harold Wunnenberg, cousins of the deceased, Wm. Shearer and Kenneth Lukins. The honorary pallbearers were Mrs. Louise Kuepper, Miss Nellie Meyerholz, Miss Eleanor Flake, Miss Juanita Gilland, Miss Marianne Klozura and Miss Madalyn Hall, all members of Mrs. Dwinell’s class in nurse’s training at Mercy hospital two years ago. Mrs. Imogene Chrissinger, Miss Betty McKinley and Miss Melba Kilpatrick had charge of the flowers.

    Clarice, Daughter of Clarence Frederick and Marie Wunnenberg, was born September 27, 1918, at Iowa City, Iowa. At the time of her birth her father was serving overseas in the World War. When she was a year old the family moved to Morning Sun to reside. Here she was reared, attended Sabbath school and church and when young professed her faith in Christ and united with the Presbyterian church. She attended the local public school, graduating in the class of 1936. Though she was handicapped by frail health she graduated with honors. After finishing the high school course she took nurse’s training at Mercy hospital in Burlington. When in her second year training she was compelled to return home because of ill health. Though ill for several months she made such recovery of health and strength that she gave promise of a happy, useful life.
    On August 1, 1939, she was happily married to William Austin Dwinell of Columbus Junction. He was serving in the U.S. navy, being located at present with the U.S.S. Wright at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Islands. It was their plan that she would soon join him and they would make their home at San Diego, Cal. Because of distance and other circumstances he was unable to return for the last rights. Recently Mrs. Dwinell contracted a severe cold which developed into pneumonia, from which she could not recover despite medical skill and tender nursing.
    Besides her devoted husband she is survived by her parents, her Grandmother Ruppurt of Iowa City, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wunnenberg of Mediapolis, and by several uncles, aunts and cousins. Possessing a cheerful spirit she radiated cheer to those about her and had many warm friends. They sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family and other relatives in their hour of sorrow.

    Harold V. "Corky" Wunnenberg, 81, of Stronhurst, Illinois, died at 9:20 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2004, at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst.

    Born March 23, 1923, in Burlington, he was the son of Villars Henry and Verrold Amanda Ahlstrand Wunnenberg.

    Mr. Wunnenberg worked for Utilities Service Co., later Fox Appliance Co., as a radio and television repairman for 10 years. He worked for Winegard Co., as a TV antenna design engineer and electronics production manager for 28 years. He retired from Winegard in 1983.

    He was a 1941 graduate of Burlington High School and a World War II Navy veteran, where he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CV-6) for 2 1/2 years doing radio and transmitter maintenance and held the rate of radio technician 1st class at the time of discharge. He was a 48-year member of the American Legion and a 64 year member of Zion United Church of Christ.

    Survivors include one daughter, Jackie Edwards of Sanford, Florida; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Evelyn Ball of San Diego and Geraldine Voelker of Burlington; one niece, one nephew and one aunt.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.

    There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated.

    The memorial service for Mr. Wunnenberg will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial with full military rites conducted by the Honor Guard of VFW Posts 10102 & 9162, American Legion Post 52, Hamilton-Walters Marine Corp League and AMVETS Post 29 will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.

    Geraldine Grace "Jerry" Voelker, 85 of Burlington, died at Burlington Care Center, Burlington, Iowa, on September 22, 2010 at 4:45 p.m.

    Born on February 9, 1925 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Villars Henry and Verrold
    Amanda Ahlstrand Wunnenberg. She married Jack Voelker on September 9, 1950 in Burlington, Iowa at Zion United Church of Christ. They later divorced.

    "Jerry" was a 1942 graduate of Burlington High School. She was employed for many years as a telephone operator. She enjoyed her family and was very fashion conscious. She enjoyed traveling and lived in Europe while her husband was in the Air Force. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ.

    She is survived by one son, Craig (Kerry) Voelker of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; one daughter, Christine (Curtis) Tippin of Chicago, Illinois; one sister, Evelyn Ball of San Diego, California; two grandchildren, Ciara Tippin of Kansas City and Cortney Tippin of Chicago; one niece; and one cousin.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harold "Corky" Wunnenberg.

    Graveside ash committal services for Geraldine Grace "Jerry" Voelker will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Jane Willan will officiate.

    No formal visitation is planned. Cremation has been accorded.

    A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
