Notes - Ralph Schafer
Ralph Schafer, 64, rt.8, Defiance, was dead on arrival at Defiance Hospital at 9:25 a.m. Saturday. He had suffered a heart attack four years ago, but recovered sufficiently to carry on limited farming operation.
Born near North Creek on Dec. 10, 1903, he was a son of Philip and Martha (Weller) Schafer. He and Mildred Shumaker, who survives, were married on Sept. 26, 1929.
Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Eva) Stuber, Fort Wayne; Mrs. Louis (Mattie) Schellenbarger, Jenera, and Mrs. Thomas Wagner, Continental. A brother, Louis, and two sisters are deceased.
Schafer was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Highland Tp. Volunteer Fire Department.
