    • Mrs. Minerva Hampleman Died February Fourteen Near Tamaroa.
      Nancy Minerva Ann Hull was born in Warren county, Tenn., June 8, 1822. She removed with her parents to Jackson county in 1826 and to Perry county four years later and there resided until she passed away Feb. 14, 1911, aged 88 years 8 month and 6 days.
      She was married to Henry F. Hampleman Sept. 25, 1842. He died Oct 9, 1876. Thirteen children were born to this union, give boys and eight girls. Eleven lived to be married, nine are still living. George, Noah, Zebedee of Tamaroa, Richard, Maggie Thornton, Alice Bradford, East St. Louis, Dan of Prosperity, Mo., Nancy E. of Belleville and Dessie Manis of Dennison, Texas. All were present except the latter, who on account of sickness was not permitted to come. Besides her children she leaves 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends unnumbered.
      In life she was a faithful wife, a devoted christian, an loving mother and a kind, affectionate neighbor. In early life she accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the Nine Mile Baptist church and later with her husband came in a charter members of the Paradise Baptist church, where she served faithfully to the end.
      She was laid to rest Thursday February 16, 1911 in paradise cemetery, clothed in pure white, beneath beautiful floral tributes, the gifts of those who loved her dearly and ever will cherish her memory.
      Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Carroll Harriss.

    • Henry F. Hempleman
      Henry F. Hempleman was born in Clarke County, Ohio, west of South Charleston, on the old Hempleman homestead September 28, 1811, died October 9, 1876. Married Minerva Hull, September 25, 1842. She was born June 8, 1822, in Warren County, Tenn., died at her home near Tameroa, Illinois, in 1911.
      Henry F. Hempleman, born on the farm, early in life devoted his time, with his brother Daniel, to the stock trade, buying, grazing and feeding large herds of cattle, then driving them on foot across the mountains to Philadelphia. The writer remembers seeing some of the droves of cattle on the way to market. They would often number many hundreds. He became the possessor of a large tract of land near Tameroa, Illinois. Later in life, he gave some time to politics, and became Judge of the County. He was one of those sturdy pioneers that blazed the way for the present generation. During his life he had the happy faculty of making every man his friend.
      To Henry F. Hempleman and Minerva Hull Hempleman were born thirteen children.
