Continental – Mrs. Mary M. Thompson, 76, 203 S. Sixth St., died at 10 a.m. Sunday in her residence of a heart attack.
Born Aug. 20, 1896 in North Creek, she was a daughter of John and Ella (Rangeler) Schafer. She married Ray Thompson on March 12, 1923 and he survives. She was a member of the Continental American Legion Auxiliary, the Ideal Times Club, Topaz Circle and Christ United Methodist Church.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John (Josephine) Hill, Bryan; Mrs. Sarah Jane Baldwin, Ayersville, and Mrs. Walter (Helen) Good, Continental; four brothers, William and Forest Schafer, Continental, and John and Carl Schafer, Toledo; a sister, Mrs. Tom (Ida) Krumm, Toledo, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Christ Church, Rev. Gary Reeves officiating, and burial will be in the North Creek Cemetery. Visiting hours in the Richardson Funeral Home are after 7 p.m. today and until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, when the body will be taken to the church.

Sarah Jane Baldwin, 82, Defiance, Ohio, died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, July 5, 2009, in Napoleon, Ohio.
She was born Nov. 4, 1926, in Continental, the daughter of Ray and Mary (Schafer) Thompson. She married Julian Baldwin, who died in 1984. She worked at Glenwood Care Center for 16 years as a laundress and also worked at Defiance Senior Center and Leisure Oaks Convalescent Center. She was also active in various bowling leagues.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel (Marcia) Baldwin of Ayersville and Stephen (Joyce) Baldwin, Continental; a daughter, Debra Baldwin, Napoleon; a sister, Mrs. Jack (Helen) Good, Continental; and eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Josephine Hill; and a grandson, Tim Baldwin.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with Dr. James W. Ernst officiating. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral Home.
Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society or Henry County Hospice.

Continental - Helen G. Good, 89, of Continental died at 11:48 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2020 at Defiance Impatient Hospice Center, Defiance. She was born September 4, 1930 in Continental to the late Ray B. and Mary M. (Schafer) Thompson. On April 26, 1947, she married Walter J. Good and he died October 23, 1996.
Survivors include two sons: Richard (Linda) Good of Leesburg, FL and Jeffery (Debra) Good of Continental; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Good of Delta; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way; seven great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Good; a granddaughter, Melanie Good Lehman; and two sisters: Josephine Hill and Sarah Jane Baldwin.
Helen was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Continental and the United Methodist Women.
Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2020 at Christ United Methodist Church, Continental with Rev. Charles Schmunk officiating. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to Defiance Inpatient Hospice.
