Port Wayne – Ralph V. Stuber, 73, a native of Putnam county, Ohio, died at 5:50 p.m. Saturday in his home, 637 Huffman St. He had been ill a year.
He retired three years ago, after serving 45 years as an engineer for the Nickel Plate Railroad and two years for the B&O Railroad. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, the Masons and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Surviving are his wife, Eva; a son, Maurice, Fostoria; three daughters, Mrs. Sue Bensen, Santa Clara, Calif., Mrs. Norma Mercado, Chicago, and Mrs. Aliff Shoemaker, Colon, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Belva Walther, Silver Lake Ind., and Mrs. Dorothy Freeman, North Manchester, Ind.; two stepsons, Paul Brecht, Continental, and John Brecht, Decatur, Ins.; two brothers, George, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Russell, Lima; 24 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church with burial in Lindenwood cemetery. Friends may call at the C.M. Sloan and Sons funeral home.
