NORTH CREEK - Ray C. Hiltner, 80, died Monday, at 1 a.m. in Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 28, 1905 in Putnam County, the son of John and Lavina (Schafer) Hiltner. He married Frances Wells in 1926 and she died in 1955. He married Lucille Sherrard in 1956, and she survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. John (Lenore) Webb, Mrs. Myrle (Ruth Ann) Hinesman, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Williamson, and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Davis, all of Defiance; one step-daughter Nondys Dunlap of Lima; two step-sons, Marlen Sherrard of Wildwood, Fla., and Terry Sherrard of Vaughnsville; 11 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy of Continental, and Albert of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and a sister, Ruth Simon of Cloverdale.
He was an apiarist and a master carpenter. He attended the Dupont Church of the Brethren and was a member of Continental F and AM Lodge 570, of which he was past master in 1952 and 1985. He belonged to the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Toledo and was president of the Putnam County Scottish Rite; he was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, Continental Chapter 129 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Continental Senior Citizens, the National Rifle Association, and the Ohio Beekeepers Association, and he was a committeeman for the Putnam County Republican Party.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Snyder Funeral Home in Continental with Rev. Terry Porter officiating. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of services. A masonic service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

WEBB Lenore M. Lenore M. Webb, passed away of an apparent heart attack Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Mercy Hospital of Defiance. She was born February 26, 1928, in Palmer Township, Putnam County, Ohio, to Ray C. and Frances L. (Wells) Hiltner. She married John C. Webb on September25, 1948. Together they raised four children, William (Christine),Thomas (Becky), Sue (Jeffrey) Strausbaugh and Lori (Ronald) Weber, all of Defiance. Lenore was a lifetime bookkeeper, as well as an avid golfer, bowler, Bridge player and world traveler. She was active in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, St. Paul's United Methodist Women's Group, Ruth Circle, Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of Eastern Stars. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Helen Williamson and Jean Hiltner and granddaughter, Erica Strausbaugh. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 p.m.at Hanenkrath - Clevenger -Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. The funeral will be conducted at St. Paul's Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Michael Donnally with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Cromley Cemetery, Defiance. Lenore was happiest when surrounded by family and friends and fondly known as "Granny" by her grand children and great-grand children. Preferred memorials may be directed to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

She retired as a secretary/bookkeeperat Schultz Plumbing, Defiance, and retired from Consolidated BiscuitCo., McComb, in 1997. She was a member of St. Paul United MethodistChurch, Defiance, where she was very active.
Surviving are two sons, Bruce (Rita) Bodenbender of Cecil, Ohio, andRobert Ray (Cherry) Davis, Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter, Shirley(Kevin) Spain, Batavia, Ohio; six grandchildren; ninegreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lenore Webb of Defiance and RuthAnn (Myrle) Hinesman, Defiance.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Karen DavisPhillips; a grandson, Timothy Phillips; a sister, Helen Williamson;and a brother-in-law, John Webb.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010, at St. PaulUnited Methodist Church, Defiance, with Rev. Michael Donnallyofficiating. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery, Continental, Ohio.
