Defiance – Rebecca M. Rue, 98, of here, formerly of Continental, died 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Defiance Hospital.
Mrs. Rue was born Jan. 5, 1890, in Palmer Township, Putnam County, the daughter of Henry and Mary Weller Morris. On July 30, 1922, she married Robert A. Rue, who died April 5, 1950.
A homemaker, Mrs. Rue was a member of Ash Grove Old German Baptist Church in Lima.
Survivors include two sons, George Rue of Wauseon and Morris Rue of Continental; one daughter, Mrs. George (Mary) Bock of Defiance; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Daniel Morris of Defiance; and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Burden of Defiance and Mrs. Martha Mayes of Continental.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ash Grove Old German Baptist Church, Lima, a home brethren officiating. Burial will be in North Mount Zion Cemetery, Continental.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Snyder Funeral Home, Continental.

George Morris
CONTINENTAL - Services for George Morris, 63, Route 2, custodian of the North Mount Zion Church and Sharon Grange, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Morris, a life-long resident of Putnam County, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday in Defiance Hospital of leukemia after an illness of several months.
He was secretary of the Palmer Township Mutual Insurance Co., North Creek and an honorary member of the State Highway Patrol Auxiliary. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion, a charter member of the Sharon Grange; an honorary member of the WCTU, and a member of the North Mount Zion Church and its Helping Hand Class.
Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Rue and Mrs. Martha Mayes, Route 2, Continental; Mrs. Catherine Spencer, Route 2, Cloverdale; Mrs. Elizabeth Burden, Defiance; Mrs. Margaret Friend, Marshall, Mich., and a brother, Daniel N., Route 8, Defiance.
The body will remain in the Wall-Walker Funeral Home, Continental, until noon Thursday, then will be removed to the church to await services.

She married Cleopha Spencer on January 15, 1919 and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1955. Quincy – Margaret (Morris) Friend, 87, of Hillsdale and formerly of Quincy, died Monday in the Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater. She had been ill three years.
She was born in Continental, Ohio, moved to Quincy in 1945 from Detroit and to Hillsdale in 1971. She attended the North Reading Baptist Church.
Her husband, Forest Friend died in 1985, and she also was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenna Newman.
She is survived by sons, Vearl Friend of Frankfort, Bernard Friend of Coldwater, Rolland Friend of Seattle, Wash., Royce Friend of Mil, and William Friend of Allen; a daughter, Eloise Gorsline of Pear Blossom, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Burton, Martha Mayes and Rebecca Rue, and a brother, Dan Morris, addresses unknown.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mast and Mock Funeral Home in Defiance, Ohio. Local arrangements are by Putnam Funeral Home.

She was born Aug. 7, 1903, in North Creek to Henry and Mary Weller Morris. She was married to Overton V. Mayes, who died Aug. 17, 1985.
Mrs. Mayes was a homemaker. She was a member of Hartsburg United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Howard Mayes of Continental; two daughters, Mildred B. Weddle of Albuquerque, N.M., and Juanita Sullivan of Continental; a brother, Daniel Morris of Defiance; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George Morris; five sisters, Rebecca Rue, Catherine Spencer; Margaret Friend, Elizabeth Burden and Anna Morris; and a grandchild.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental. The Rev. Kay Wilcox will officiate. Burial will be in North Mount Zion Cemetery, Continental.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
