MRS. EFFIE VANCE MOYER.
Again this community was shocked when, on Saturday evening, Shortly after six o clock it was announced that Mrs. Effie Vance, wife of John L. Mover, had expired. Though in ill health for some time past, and Confined to her bed for several weeks, she seemed bright and cheerful on Saturday, and, only a little while before her death, she was conversing pleasantly with members of the family, Little dreaming that death was so near, the other members of the
household had gone out of the room, leaving one daughter, Helen, to sit with her mother. Suddenly the little girl noticed a strange expression on her mother's face, and, believing she had fainted, she called for assistance.
Restoratives were applied, and every effort made to revive her, but when her physician, Dr. Reber, arrived Mrs. Moyer was dead. Heart disease, from which she had been suffering for some time, was the chief cause. For a number of years prior to her marriage Mrs. Moyer, then Miss Effie Vance, was a popular teacher in the public schools of Bloomsburg. She was a daughter of the late Major Michael Vance, of Orange township, and was born in Orange township on the 24th day of January, 1847. She was married to John L. Moyer on the 13th day of October, 1874, and to them were born the following children: Myra (Elmira), Laura, Helen, Lewis, William, and Harold, who, with their father, survive her. Two other children died in infancy. One sister. Miss Mary Vance, of this town, is the only surviving member of Major Vance's family. Mrs. Mover was possessed of a happy disposition, and bv reason of this and her many other admirable qualities of character, she was endeared to a large circle of friends. The family have many sympathizers in their bereavement. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon at half past one o'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. Dr.G.H. Hemingway, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, of which the deceased was a member, assisted by Rev. Mr. Martyn, of Orangeville. The Floral offerings of loving friends were numerous and beautiful, and the large attendance betokened the high esteem in which Mrs. Moyer was held.
The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in Rosemont Cemetery.

3520 Rev. George E. Limbert. – After an illness of seven weeks as a result of diphtheria and its after effects the Rev. George Elias Limbert, pastor of the Trinity Reformed church, of Altoona, died in that city at 9.30 o’clock Monday morning. For six days preceding his death he had been in a very critical condition, though he was conscious until the end.
Deceased was born at Madisonburg, Centre county, December 20th, 1865. He was the son of Henry J. and Caroline Limbert, who were most estimable residents of that place. After he had become a member of the Reformed church, which was at the ages of twenty years, he decided to study for the ministry. He was active in the religious work while a pupil in the Spring Mills school in his native county, and later entered college at Lancaster, graduating in 1890, with high honors. He then entered the theological seminary and graduated from there in 1893. Afterwards he went to Grove City, at which place he was ordained, organized a congregation from a mission and remained its head for seven years. During that time he charge prospered and many new members were added to the roll. From Grove City he went to Danville, remaining nearly six years. May 3rd, 1905, he went to Altoona as pastor of Trinity Reformed church, succeeding the Rev. Lewis Robb. He did good work among his congregation and had endeared himself greatly to the members.
Rev. Limbert was one of the most popular as well as prominent ministers in the Reformed church and was a man who had many friends. He was ever thoughtful for the welfare of others and even in the last hours of his life, when he knew that death was near, he endeavored by counsel and prayer to prepare those around him for the last great day.
He is survived by his wife and one son, Paul, at home; his aged mother, at the old home in Madisonburg, with one sister and four brothers, as follows; Annie, William and Daniel, of Madisonburg; Harvey, of Pittsburg, and Alfred, living in eastern Ohio.
Funeral services were held in the church over which he had been pastor, at 8 o’clock Wednesday evening, and were conducted by his fellow ministers in the Mountain city. Yesterday the remains were shipped through Bellefonte to Madisonburg, to the home of his mother, from where the funeral will be held this morning, internment to be in the Reformed church cemetery.

3523 Revolutionary War. Served in Captain Ben Weiser's company.

From Genealogy of the Meyer Family by Henry Meyer. 1890.
Philip (son of Jacob, son of Gr. Meyer) was married to Margaret Morr, sister of his brother John Jacob's wife Julia, daughters of Andrew Morr, one of the early settlers in the region where Freeburg, Pa., is now located. The respective family histories of the Meyers and Morrs have been running in parallel streams for over a century with frequent intermingling of their branches all along their course. The first record of marriage between the two families is that of Philip Meyer and Margaret Morr, which occurred about the year 1780; and the members of the families still continue to intermarry in Ohio. Philip was the oldest of the sons; heavy built, muscular and active, but not as tall as his brothers. He was a noted wrestler in his day, and was not averse to contests of a more serious nature, as his numerous experiments in that line seem to demonstrate. But that was in an age when physical power was at a premium. The man who could leap the greatest distance, could kick the highest and hit the hardest blows was a hero and received the applause of society. There was a vast amount of hard work to do in those pioneer days, and for want of labor-saving machinery; it had to be accomplished by sheer physical force. Hence, any exercise which tended to muscular development, or exhibited physical vigor in its greatest perfection, was cherished and applauded. - Philip served in the Revolutionary War, being a member of Capt. Ben. Weiser's company. Adam Schaeffer was Lieutenant of the company, and subsequently became captain by promotion.
On his return from the army Philip settled down to domestic life near Freeburg for a number of years, thence moved to Brushvalley, Centre Co., Pa., and bought a tract of land about a mile east of the present post village of Wolfs Store. This was about the year 1802. His brother Henry had then been in the valley five years, while Michael, another brother, came three years later. Mr. Meyer, the subject of our sketch, was of a liberal disposition, - was kind to his family, generous to his neighbors, and a useful citizen in his township. For many years he was supervisor of Miles township, serving in that capacity in 1815, when the public road from Wolf's Store across the mountains to Pennsvalley was made. Philip was a consistent member of the Reformed Church, and mother states he experienced religion in his declining days and died a happy Christian. A short time before his death, he remarked to Mr. Fred. C. Meyer, of Freeburg, who visited him, "I am ready to die." He breathed his last April 27, 1831, aged 75 years, 5 months and 13 days. His wife was born Aug. 20, 1759; died March 12, 1829. Both are buried in the Lutheran and Reformed cemetery, Rebersburg, Pa. One tombstone marks the graves of both. Their descendants are legion and are all out West, mostly in Ohio and Iowa.

There were eleven children, seven sons and four daughters.

3531 Robert Simanton Sr, was a native of Scotland (pg 166 Jacoby) and settled in North New Jersey.
Per records of First Presbyterian Church of Philadelphia, was married May 17, 1738, to Mary McDowell (Penna. Archives, 2nd Series, v.9).
The year they moved to Northampton, PA, is unknown. On July 10, 1775 a deed was conveyed to him of 225 acres, located near Delaware River, signed by attorney for the executors of Thomas Bishop Vickries of British, England. The deed stated that this land adjoined OTHER LAND of Robert Simanton, with point that he came to this county before this date. (pg. 166 Jacoby). Robert was listed on tax list for 1772 for Mt. Bethel, as a farmer. For Jan. 1775, County tax rolls showed Robert owned 225 acres, of which 100 were cleared, 40 sowed with horses, cattle and sheep. (History of Northampton County, Pa., 1877, p.75.

His will dated July 23, 1782 and proved Jan 27 1786. His seven children named: Margaret Nelson, Jane Brittan, Ester Ross, sons: Ephriam, Robert, Peter and Benjamin.
Noted all four of his sons rendered service to the United States during the Revolution.
Source: The Jacoby family genealogy : a record of the descendants of the pioneer, Peter Jacoby of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, 1930 pgs. 166-168 and pg. 173.
Additional information on their children.
Sons; Robert Jr, (FAG # 112626904) and Peter (FAG # 43916882) changed the spelling of their last name to Simington. ( Both Unlinked at this time)
His son John (no memorial) died in the War while being a British prisoner (p. 168, Jacoby).
His son James Simanton (FAG # 19877637)
Margaret (Nelson) and Ester (Ross) have no memorials.

Robert & Mary have no "photo of a formal cemetery burial", many of their family are buried at the old Presbyterian churchyard in Martins Creek.

The Scottish-Irish Presbyterian Cemetery is one of the oldest graveyards in area. The Historic Pennsylvania Society published in June 1899, Old Grave Yards of Northampton by John Eyerman, Pg 5: Lower Mt Bethel Presbyterian, Vol.1 in which he reported the graveyard was in disarray and compiled a list of stones that could be identified. Many of which were a part of this family: Jacoby, Foreman, and Brittan's and some of the Simanton family. Robert Simanton was not listed in that original list, but very conceivable he was buried in this cemetery, in an unmarked grave.
The family bible was lost per his son Robert, Jr, reported on Aug 24, 1837. (Pg 166 Jacoby). Robert Sr will made provisions to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of his executors. We can infer that his body was buried.
