She may have been born in Clermont County, Ohio, where the family lived at the time of another child's November 1857 birth and at the time of the 1860 U. S. Census enumeration. By the time of the 1870 U. S. Census the Moyer family had moved to Iowa. James Fletcher and Ida Moyer married on October 4, 1876, in Scott County, Iowa and lived in Iowa at the time of the 1880 and 1900 U. S. Census enumerations. By the 1910 U. S. Census the family had moved to Spokane, Washington, where Ida remained after her husband's death.
