Notes - Jerome is living on his fathers farm, which, as stated above, is a part of the tract owned by his grandfather, Henry Meyer. It may be an item of interest to some to know that there are still some descendants of bees on the place from a colony which grandfather brought along when he moved into the valley almost a hundred years ago. And there is an apple tree in the old orchard, near Elk Creek, on the same tract, which was also brought from Freeburg nearly a hundred years ago. measuring eleven and a half feet in circumference near its base, and still bearing fruit.
