He was the last surviving Civil War Veteran in Centre County when he died. He spent most of his service in Tennessee. It was reported that his horse was once shot from under him.
Civil War Veteran Dies At 103 Years
STATE COLLEGE, Jan. 10. (AP) —Cyrus M. Walker, Centre county's last veteran of the war between the states, died Wednesday, January 9, 1946. He was 103.
Walker served with the 7th Pennsylvania Cavalry, which participated in three battles during the war.
He attended the Blue and Gray Reunion at Gettysburg in 1938, marking the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.
Walker was born Nov. 23, 1842 in Clintondale, Clinton County. Three daughters survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday.
