    • W.E. BENNER, POSTMASTER AT GLEN IRON, DIES
      W. Earnest Benner, 61, Glen Iron postmaster, died Saturday afternoon at 4:15 o’clock after a lingering illness of two years. He had been confined to his home for two months.
      Mr. Benner served at postmaster for 14 years and duties of the office were carried on during his illness by Mrs. Benner who has served as assistant postmaster for three years.
      Prior to being named postmaster he was an auctioneer and from times presided at sales when his duties at the postoffice permitted.
      He was born at New Berlin May 8, 1880, the son of Everett and Mary Benner.
      Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna Benner, two children, Ernestine and Lee, at home, and the following sisters, Mrs. C.D. Kniss, Mifflinburg; Mrs. Josephine Hayes, Philadelphia; Miss Catherine, of New York City, and Mrs. Henry Moyer, Limestone Township, Union County.
      Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the L.W. Strunk & Son funeral home, Mifflinburg, with Rev. Joseph P. Sheesley, pastor of the Glen Iron Evangelical Church, officiating. Burial will be made in the new cemetery at Laurelton.
